Default 991 Cab won't carry my "stuff" and tired of driving my truck....

There have been too many times when I really needed more room for "stuff" or people than my Cab S would handle. I have a truck for when that occurs but it just isn't near as much fun to drive. So, I did what any Porsche nut would do -- I bought a (used) 2017 Cayenne S to replace the truck.

Yeah, I know you may think there is another person that put $17,500 in the Porsche's pocket --- but since it is used I figure the original purchaser did that and by not buying a new one, Porsche will still get plenty of my money in maintenance but not the $17,500 right of the bat.

I'd post a photo --- but all I have is the ad from the dealer's site. As soon as Intercity picks it up next week and get's it here I'll post a photo ....

Yours is probably yet another reason why the Cayenne has been the #1 seller since it first came out and of course, the 2015+ is the best looking by far.

According to Porsche - Macan has been outselling the Cayenne for about a year. And of course the pre-facelift 958 are the best looking by far.

Mike - your move makes perfect sense to me. Why drive boring cars (or trucks)?

Sad to say, but I am having so much fun driving my MT 08 GTS around, that I am not even interested in owning a water cooled 911 anymore...

Ouch! ...But you have a 95 C2 to enjoy, so life is good!

Cheers,

As awesome as our Cayennes are, they aren't a 911. Good thing we can have both.

So what are you going to do when you run out of room for your "stuff" in the Cayenne?

(Yes, it does happen... which is why I have both! )

Coincidence that timeframe lines up with when VAG had to stop selling all TDIs? I think not. It was the best selling variant of the Cayenne from introduction up to the point of the stop sale and other than the initial release of the Macan the Cayenne had maintained the top selling role in the family.

Shame VAG was so short sighted...

And of course the pre-facelift 958 are the best looking by far.
I was just thinking about that earlier when I had to run out.

I'll give the 958.2 credit that the non-TT/GTS variants have a more aggressive look to them which I like while the 955/957/958.1 comparable models look bland. I do love the 958.1 TT/GTS front end though (which is why I had my diesel updated to it).

I've got it covered. Cayenne for hauling and winter, 997 C2S for trips, '70 914-6 for the handling and the Weber symphony

I believe the Macan was going to get the 3.0 tdi as the base engine until dieselgate forced Porsche to use the VW four banger. Who knows, Macan sales might even have been higher.

Anyway, welcome to the club

I am going to have to work very hard to make sure that doesn't become a problem. a) Not really room to store more than 3 cars and b) buying another truck after selling this one after only owning it a year would be a hard sell with the wife.

But I do have a small utility trailer and the Cayenne has a hitch so I'll just have to make things work. Or course the other option is just to drive fast and make two trips to get everything to wherever I am going

Obviously, there is no substitute for a 911...
