So not much left aside from the interior trim. I was a bit worried about the visual strength of the Orange but the chrome and other details have brought that back a bit and with the correct deep sixes on it will look very nice. The stance is about right, those temporary Minilites are 7" wide and there is plenty of clearance at that ride height. I will pick up some 7" Fuchs at some point and get the six and seven Cookie cutters refinished and that will be enough wheels for all occasions. I Was going to get the cookies refinished with the correct shiny outers and black centers but there is a grand right there so maybe a simple single colour powdercoat finish for those - in an interesting colour maybe.

Looks awesome! I have a soft spot for those Minilights Dave. They look spot on. Be great to see it with the Fuchs on it though. Almost there

So the embossing pattern project continues along at a slow pace. The CNC guys calculated that to machine the plates with 3mm posts would take a week or thereabouts. Then a suggestion was to drill the plates and machine stainless steel pins for me to tap in. That would take me a week. By making the posts and gaps around them bigger this will dramatically reduce machining time - bigger cutter - faster feed etc.
I 3D printed out a couple of plates to try some embossing via the vice and some blocks of wood to see what it will look like. As much pressure as I could over the relatively small vice jaw area made only light impressions. That big hydraulic embossing press must be a beast to do what it does.
One plate has 5mm posts with 5mm space between posts and then a 6mm version.

6mm.
Who knows? I think any of these would look OK from 10 paces and on large flat sections it is enough to take away the blandness but not too big a pattern to make the eye want to pick out something more than it is.

What made you shift from the 3 to 5mm Dave? Both look good. Be interested to know how big that last piece of hide is to get an idea of scale.

The machine time for 3mm was getting out of hand. A larger cutter can push through faster and remove more metal. Compromise, but I still think I'm maybe getting the CNC work for a box of beer so happy to shift the spec to make it easier to achieve

I'm not sure Dave. I think I still prefer the original swatches but conceded they might be too much for larger areas. I'd imagine the pressure required for 5mm circles would be much greater than 3mm and I wonder if it would affect how the leather sits whenever relaxed...

I've just had a look at your thread. That darker burgundy colour is nice, and if you did decide to leave it like that then a lighter interior would suit it well. Always a risk of making it too olde worlde but a few raw touches to keep it in tune with the hotrod intent should keep it on the right side. I risk the same with the T and brown leather. Working hard to keep some semblance of racer in there so it doesn't look like Grandma's lounge or a tan suit.

I experimented a bit with an Autocad drawing at A3 size with the dots drawn and shaded and on a big sheet it looks fine. I've given the go on the sixes. I'll have to like it cause there's no going back now.
