Skaggs used to be a tire testing road for Mazda. I love the first part ... Very tight turns on rough pavement that keeps you very alert to choosing lines hidden in the shadows of beautiful forests. There are a couple of historical one lane bridges as a bonus. But there is always debris so if you are worried about road rash keep a long forward clearance. And if you have lowered suspension travel at your own risk, being mindful of the lines you choose. Too soon the road opens up into long sweepers and clean pavement.

PS: The country store at Stewart Point is worth a stop. Heading east from here rather than turning on Annapolis Road 5 miles further north will take you through wonderful redwood and fern forests on a less than 2 lane road with blind turns and rises. At the top you'll enter a community and yield left down a great twisty downhill to one of those bridges.

Is there still an unpaved section in the redwood forest? It's been a long time since I've been on this road and I was on 2 wheels.

It's a year now since the last addition was made to the list of Bay Area roads.

There is of course a finite set, but bumping to the top in case anyone has some new recommendations.

Thanks.

Karl.

A good ways east of there is Hwy 58. Worth the drive. Continue on to 33 down to Ojai, more than with the drive. Essentially, drive a loop.

As Joe mentioned, SR58 is an option. This one from the top post starts pretty close to you...

Points further away from the SF Bay Area
...

Just drove SF -> 280S -> La Honda -> Skyline -> Half Moon Bay Rd -> back to SF this afternoon starting from noon to 2.

Zero cars in front or behind me on Skyline the entire way, thank you drizzle! No road debris either. Saw a bunch of tree removal trucks so they must have been busy this morning and on their lunch break.

Obviously top up, on PS4S’s. Don’t let the rain keep you in—beautiful drive today!

I took SF > SJ for a work visit > hwy9 to the stop sign on the West side of Skyline > back to Skyline > Alice's for lunch > Kings Mtn > SF starting at 11:30.
Must have just missed you on Skyline

Bummer @greasem0nkey86—let’s fix that next time! Do you ever do group drives/meetups? I’ve only been a Porsche owner for two weeks so looking forward to getting some of those in, especially hitting up Alice’s.

I’m keeping the car in the garage today with the progression from drizzle to real rain and flooding. Wife just called to report seeing another car do a full 360 on 101 on her way to work.
