HI! are you telling me we have another ship going to Emden thats bound for the west coast and I may have hope after all to leave port???
According to my trader, our next hope arrives Emden in 5 hrs. Although, given the distance it needs to travel, I doubt the arrival time is accurate.

Cepheus Leader is the NYK ship whose dates roughly align with the dates your sales rep had on their internal tracking system. See posts #408 and #409. Hopefully, you’ll get the long awaited Get Out of Emden Jail email by next Wednesday. Good luck!!

I checked on Jiuyang just now (yes, I get up for work early….). It and a bunch of other ships are huddling / sheltering off the coast of France - still in the English Channel. With the late March sailing date, I thought the Atlantic might be more tranquil. I guessed wrong. The second screenshot is wind pattern while the last shot with the red blob pattern is wave height. Hopefully this weather front will pass soon and Jiuyang can recover some of this delay later on. Safety to the crew and cargo is the priority.

I think Jiuyang anticipated this storm. When they initially departed, the ETA was 4/6... but then they updated the date to 4/9. Though the schedule always showed 4/9. Better safe than sorry.

On that site (https://zoom.earth/places/atlantic-o...eed/model=icon), click the play button and they show you where they anticipate where the storm is heading and if you keep watching until the 28th, it is heading directly to where the Blossom is currently right now and the colors indicate 30MPH wins or so. It does die down on the 29th.
Hopefully that model isn't correct otherwise the ship is going to get battered at it's current location on the 28th.
Am I reading it correctly?

Much better than the 50 kt (Beaufort level 10) it would face in the Atlantic had it not turned and waited. Here is a couple YouTube vids on the different Beaufort levels.

Not only are we Porsche aficionados but we've become shipping / weather geeks.
I found this other site just now: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather...n.,-Visibility. A lot of sailing and weather terminology that is above my head but you can get the gist of the weather conditions. Scrolling to the top of the page, you can click on the map for conditions per different zones around the Channel. Based on Jiuyang's position, it appears to be in the Wight zone.
Where Jiuyang is sitting right now has land to the left of it so the waves should be buffeted somewhat, i.e., should be much better than being out in the open ocean. Still I'm sure it'll get rocked by wind though since these RoRos are so tall. I noticed Sumire Leader is also hanging out in the Channel - this is an east coast bound ship that left Emden a couple days before Jiuyang.
Just our luck that at a major storm came in! Fingers crossed the front will pass soon.
