as a gentle reminder that if you're using the PMC+/PMCC please make sure you have it paired/installed with the appropriate hubble NEMA socket - if you don't have a hubble socket - you should consider:
again just a reminder because we had a failure this week witha cheap NEMA socket - and porsche seems to feel their nominal operating temperature of 90-100F + ambient temps is "just" fine - it's your crappy socket that's the problem not our hot-running EVSE…![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
so please consider eitehr running your PMC+/PMCC "slower" or get the hubble - anything else is just begging for eventual failure (or get another EVSE that doesn't run quite so hot).

- turning down your PMC+/PMCC to 32 amps or less
- getting a hubble socket installed before returning the PMC+/PMCC to maximum power 40 amps (9.6 kW)

Porsche just issued a recall for their EVSE - this is the same recall for VW/Audi - and makes 100% sense since the EVSE's are IDENTICAL other than the stickers on the units.
https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/recall-power-outlet-may-cause-charging-cable-to-overheat-20-24-apb6-december-13-2023.18185/
https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2023/PORSCHE/TAYCAN/4%252520DR/RWD#recalls
says we get new power supply cables mid-2024 w//thermal sensor - it's unclear if they are upping the wire gauge or just adding a thermal sensor so the cable will tell the EVSE to shutdown mid charging cycle leaving your Taycan partially charged over night.
I prefer:
and lower the nominal operating temperature when running at full 9.6 kW charge rate
this all makes sense given the upcoming high-volume EV MacanEV releaes - going to market with their current EVSE's with the known problems was not going to be pretty in my opinion.
it's taken them 3 years - but oh well…

Tesla Gen3 Wall Charger w/Powersharing setup - example here - https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/th...9/#post-290467
Tesla Gen3 Universal Wall Chargers are about the best $600 EVSE in North America right now…hard to go wrong.

Chargers are weatherproof, Keep in mind 50amps is a large conductor so try to stay close to your panel. I would make an effort to keep it protected from weather if possible even though its weatherproof.

I am so happy with the technically correct and well described advice, I can hardly stand it.
Thanks a million.

I feel I must toot daveo4porsche's horn here. I consider him a Porsche EV public servant. On his recommendation many years ago, I scrounged (eBay) 4 Tesla Version 2 HPWC and connected all of them to a single 100A breaker circuit while also connecting them in their proprietary communications network. I can now share up to 19.2kW charging among any of the 4 EVSE. Easy Peasy. The system is lovely, reliable and ready for future NACS socket equipped EVs. Works perfectly with J1772-to-Tesla adapters.

I'm currently rocking a single 100 amp 19.2 kW Tesla Gen2 Wall Charger - it's rarely used these days but there for if/when I need it
I "daily" usage is 3 Gen3 Tesla Universal Wall Chargers - configured to "share" the 100 amp circuit - but each can only do max 60 amps each - but I can charge 3 EV's at the same time and will split the load - _IF_ I was using the 100 amp Gen2 charger I would have to no use the Gen3 chargers because the two do not communicate with each other ;-)
but I'm super happy your system worked out for you - it's always a bit iffy giving/taking advice on the internet and my intention is to help but sometime the best laid plans ;-)

A second reason is that on road trips there are so many DCFC and J1772 charging options now, compared with just five years ago, that many never need a mobile EVSE. Though it can be handy to carry for "opportunity" charging - like if staying at an AirBnB or car camping at an RV park. So I still carry a kit so I can use 14-50, TT-30, 5-20, 5-15, 10-30, and 14-30. (No 6-50.) Have only used it once on the road in recent memory. And even then, there was a Supercharger site just a few miles away. So it wasn't a necessity.
