Hmmm. If the Taycan Turbo S, was even 150 kg less (it looks), it would have aced literally every test they had vs the almost 400 kg lighter BMW M5 competition. Interesting indeed, for a first generation all electric car by Porsche.
Where was the Panamera Turbo/Turbo S, since they threw in the BMW?
The Tesla Model S Performance Ludicrous took up the rear as expected in this sorta ***** Out Production Sedan performance test in Das Mutter-land, Heimat! Price is right though compared to the others. Game on!

How does consumption that is >25 Kw/100km and a battery that is <100kw (slightly) lead to range over 400km for the Model S? Perhaps Limp mode is magic?
Also - Hi! - Im new - don't have a Porsche (yet) but a Model S 75 that is two years old. Interest in the Taycan made me find this forum.

Nonetheless, I'm sure you'll find a good amount of partisan; spirited, and (luckily) detailed rants; arguments and friendly discussions here.
The best general fan forum (IMO, and others) detailing these particular, and other electric vehicle, the technology on the public web.
PS: That had caught my attention as well. But I was waiting to hear someone else's response, as I didn't ponder, scrutinize it. LOL

I know Top Gear has had different drivers, and you couldn't always take them or some of their times seriously over the years. However, you wonder if the Stig was completely familiar and comfortable in the car? And if not, how much faster would he have gone if he was?

the thing about pro-drivers vs. us mortals is they can go out and get close to max performance with very little seat time in any random car - at least that's what I've seen and been told - now I can get quick in a car if you give me seat time, but it takes me a few track days and many sessions to work up to my quicker lap times…really really pro drivers just get in and go - and it's like - whaaaaaaaaa my god man how do you do that? it's why they are pro's and I am not…
but the lap was fast, but really really sloppy in my opinion -I'm sure it wasn't his first, but also probably not enough time
is there a panamera lap time posted for Top Gear?

yeah - writing's on the wall - and the walls are closing in - battery technology isn't going to get worse over the next 10 years…reduce some weight, add some motors, and write some software - and ICE's will seem a quaint memory.

Yes, you expect some tire squeal, etc., with the larger, heavier cars, particularly 4 door sedans in the hands of Pro's exploiting them. But man, he was all over the place (as we could see), especially for such a fast time. It reminded me of some amusement park rides I've been on over the years with all the horizontal centrifugal spinning. Can you say, Bumper Cars any one!?
Either way (whether he needed more time or not): We'll see on future events and track performances?
But yes, the Apocalypse may be coming, indeed!?

But in a Taycan, it doesn't matter so much. That's why I maintain that the Taycan was the perfect car to launch as their first EV. Mistakes that would be catastrophic on a sports car aren't as consequential for this car. Porsche will learn and the 718 replacement will be excellent, no doubt.
