A bit off topic but personally I find the 964 to be a perfect stablemate to the Spyder. The 964 in stock form is very soft, a bit vague and not exactly confidence inspiring in the canyons. But change out the bushings, shocks and springs combined with a proper alignment and the car is completely transformed into a very fun canyon car while still maintains great around town manners. What I like about the 964 is that it demands your attention even at lower speeds and around town. You need to pay attention to the inputs to get it right and its the primary reason I wanted an older car. The other plus of the 964 is that it does still have some modern touches including power steering, functional HVAC and airbags. It also has plenty of power IMHO. Having a lighter set of wheels helps with this and i think that’s the only drawback to the RUF wheels I put on mine, I can definitely feel the weight on the road and during acceleration.

You can definitely take the 964 further into more focused canyon car by doing some of the things that Spyerx has done but then it does lose some of its day to day comfort.

Way beyond a real RS. lighter, better chassis setup, better brakes, more power, wider/more grip tires, safety setup, modern diff, etc. I mean, an RS is an RS (I have a 997RS), and the stock 964RS is a great car. So not really a compare. Its not hard to better the performance of the factory car. Factory car (aside from the RS label) has a good blend of balance. Mine will be much edgier.

Now to go drive the Spyder and add some pics to this thread...

So almost a 964 by badge only. Sounds like a fun build.

I get all the mods you mentioned. But how are u getting all that much more power out of it?

Never mind. This is the 981 forum. I'm getting way off topic. Enjoy the spyder. More and more, it's my fav all around car in my small fleet.

Sport buckets look awesome.
I feel they are the most uncomfortable seat for street or track Porsche has made.
I orefer recaro pole positions or profi for track and are good for street too.
the sofa seats are quite good.
Peoblem for me on sports is when wearing a Hans it pushes head way forward and on street they don’t have enough boloster

I like the sofa seats in the Spyder, but am not crazy about them. The sports buckets wouldn’t have worked for me. Surprisingly, I actually prefer the seats in my 05 base Carrera. They fit me like a comfortable pair of old shoes. Maybe it’s the fact that the car has over 100k miles on it, allowing the seats to become well broken in so to speak.

I had sofas on my first 981 Spyder and LWBs on my second. Both are very good seats. I’m in love with the LWBs but the 18 ways we’re good too.

A re-fresh to the thread...

Another early am run up the C2Sky Hwy to Porteau Cove. Doesn't really get much better than this in the Spyder.

Joel, enough already! Quit rubbing it in. We get it. The side windows on the 987 Spyder ARE incredible and put those on the 981 Spyder to shame.

Kindly stop rubbing our nose in it.

SCORE!! Great snag, Robert, and welcome to Spyder Nation. You have indeed come to the right place to find like-minded Spyder/Porsche enthusiasts.

When you get a chance, maybe share some of your impressions once you get more familiar with the car.

Huge congrats, and welcome!

Thank you for your reply, I will post some photos soon and the specification of the car etc. As for my impression of the car I love it, I had a 2014 Boxster GTS before and thought is it worth spending all this money and changing for a similar car? The answer is a big YES, I love it though our road laws make it hard to have too much fun. I live on Phillip Island and we have the Australian Moto GP race track so I will have to do a track day as soon as the weather improves.
