As they say, ya never have a problem, until you do. The problem with doing anything remotely track like on the streets isn’t just speeding tickets. It’s the uncontrolled environment. Bikes, deer, road debris, etc., and the fact that the other drivers sharing the road with you didn’t sign the waiver accepting track day risk. And if you’re truly ripping it up in the canyons, it means you’re also overdriving your sight lines. If you’re not, then you’re not really ripping it up.

What Marine said- went with my two boys a few weeks ago on some incredible roads from Wickenberg AZ thru Yarnell, Prescott and Jerome. We were in my 981 Spyder and my son's R8 Spyder both with the tops down. We were having fun but really not that much over the actual limit. Were very surprised that almost everyone we come up on ( and we didn't come flying up behind them but sort of kept our distance) pulled over and let us by, most giving us a thumbs up!!

Looks great on the track, really looking forward to getting mine on the track and driving over our 60 MPH speed limit.
Back in the UK at the end of the month staying in somerset so not far from you in devon. I have a 1988 911 there so will have some fun. I see there is a nice Spyder the same colour as mine for sale in Bodmin.

I wish I could find a beautiful 2016 Spyder with PCCB. I hate to clean wheels!

981 meets little Daddy
Head to Head
Perfect Spyder weather in the UK. Very rare to have weeks of unbroken good weather . Met up with a friend and his new 981 Spyder. He traded in his GT4 for it and has found it better than the open top GT4 he thought it would be. Says its so much more responsive and enjoyable as a road car ( hes not a track guy )

If you get a chance, would be curious to hear your thoughts and driving impressions comparing the 987 and 981 Spyders. Similarities? Differences? What you like about the new car over the old car, and vice versa. Thanks and congrats on the pick-up

Guys I searched for a model that not everyone had here in Texas are (Houston) been there done that with 911’s and did research on limited production and found the 2011-2012 spyder....took 3 months and found 2012 CPO in Maryland at Porsche dealership...shipped it down and I love to drive ...so don’t just look at it...I drive a 6” lifted Ford F-250 on 37” tires everyday for the company I own so when I get home the Porsche comes out to drop kids off at practices and weekends....the 987 was great car...Load on interstate speeds could not talk to my wife on the way to weekend in Galveston that could be bonus!!! But it is what it is a unique model. I swapped tires and wheels so I would not damage BBS originals and stored....I researched both2012 and 2016 spyder in Jan 2018 and the 2012 won at the time....then in May landed big contract with client and extra cash came in so went shopping and found a local Porsche dealer with a 2016 GT4 for $105K...went and looked at car and asked salesman about comparing it to Spyder...he said no one comes in asking about a spyder in Houston....that sold me on spyder...almost exactly same performance and soft top. Hunt was on found this red one with 4K miles just under 99K deal was done....night and day compared to 987..I can relax while driving, larger interior, little road noise, just a more refined car for what I want to be in after driving a big truck all day and I can enjoy that there are limited numbers of these. In a sea of 911’s and GT4 in my area love the 2016 spyder for my use!

Ahhhh, now you're just rubbing it in!
My Spyder on-track experience has been limited to low-speed parade laps where we did not exceed 60 mph., so I just got a taste of the possibilities . . . but man, were they yummy! Jealous of you guys who have logged bona-fide hot laps in the Spyder. Has to be a ton of fun in this car with the top down, wind noise, engine screaming, passenger screaming , etc.

Had a great day at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last Friday.
Celebrating 70 years of Porsche
Great parking just by the PEC. The 944 next to mine has covered 390k miles
