Has anyone retrofitted a GT3 master cylinder to a Cayman R?
I know this is the accepted fix for mushy (PCCB) brakes on Spyders and non-R Caymans, but we're having some problems with its installation (which may or may not be related to my drive-off assist issue).
With the GT3 master cylinder in the car, it much more readily gets the brake drive-off assist effect I find to be so wrong (locking the brakes until the 3 second delay is over, or trying to overpower the brakes with the drivetrain).
It is also throwing a psm/abs controller error 5553 (pressure sensor) code, as it has apparently in the past, though I've received no message and have never seen any dash lights flash.
So my questions are:
1) has anyone installed the GT3 Master cylinder in a Cayman R (and does it have PCCBs)?
2) has anyone else seen this error, and can it be anything but an actual hardware/warranty issue?
Thanks

Steve,
I have a PCCB Spyder with a GT3 master cylinder. I did the install about a year ago and I have not had any of the issues you are experiencing. The only 'problem' I had was bleeding all of the air out of the system. It took a couple of tries before I could get all the air out, but I eventually did. I did use my durametric cable to actuate the ABS, and that seemed to help get the final bits of air out. Maybe try that?

I know Savyboy and some others have done the same as you with the Spyders, with no problems. We're wondering if this is a CR (or even a 2012) idiosyncrasy/difference, or if this is related to the weird drive-off assist behavior (and psm error).
I really appreciate the feedback.

Apparently the GT3 master cylinder I received (in the correctly marked box) is the wrong one. I have another new GT3 master cylinder on the way. I'll update after it is installed.
Thanks, all

I finally got my Cayman R brakes done. I went with the PCCB master cylinder as that is what the Interseries cars are using. Plus, I could not find anyone who had successfully used the GT3 one in a Cayman R. I also went with stainless lines, Castrol SRF fluid, and Pagid sport pads.
The pedal feel is vastly improved. I'll know more after a couple track weekends next month, but on the street the brakes are awesome! And the sport pads don't squeal like race pads do.

That's great news, Bill (and hopefully bodes well for my swap).
Did you change everything at once? or do you have an idea how much of a difference each part made?
