Thanks for the info Cayman. The dealer told me the spyders are ready and are waiting to get on the vessel from germany. Once it get on the ship it will take a few weeks (2-3weeks) to get here. I can't wait to pick it up. Now is a best time to start driving that thing.

E-Mail from my dealer today:
just called on the red one that finished on the 15th and it is still at the exclusives department for roll bar paint and gauges in red. This is just and example of the possible delays that might take place with your car as well. At this point it looks like the red car will ship in the first week of April, two weeks after the build (Check Point 8). We still need to get your car to (Check Point 8) and then see if it will need work to be completed at the exclusives department as well, I assume yes. I think we are going to be looking at early June now.""I

I got to ride in the Spyder at Sebring. It was equpped with PDK. Very nice ride. Much stiffer than the normal Boxster. The top seemed complicated at first, but after watching the PCNA guys take it off and put it up, twice, I tried it out on my own and it was easy. Definitely got ALOT of looks in the Sebring paddock and infield. Was surprised how many people immediately recognized it as the Spyder.

Manny, How was the experience with the PDK??? Would you consider ordering one with that verses the standard?

Wasn't for me, either (locked in December, built in February).

It became available for order in February, so roughly April production.

Thanks for the info on the battery. I plan to order it and use it in my RS instead.

Does anyone have a further update on the potential roof recall? My Boxster Spyder and all the others on my boat have been sitting at the port in San Diego for almost two weeks now! Guessing something is up.

Yes... Its the front latch. There is a replacement part being sent out. Not sure what the ETA is. I just hope it doesn't delay my build.

My factory completion date was pushed out another week due to the roof recall. The new date is April 7th.

Oh well... Better a week than another month.

Bummer. I wonder if the one week build delay is perhaps a clue as to the time period it will take for Porsche to "fix" the problem for cars that are either at the port or sitting on dealer lots.

Cayman, you were 100% correct -- front latch issue. I sent you a PM.

Thx

zellamsee,
Yeah for everyone's sake, I hope the wait isn't much longer for the replacement parts.

Thanks again for your Spyder info, its been added to the registry.

For all others that Spyder's (or on order) please be sure to add your info to the site too! www.987spyder.com
