>>Not a lot going on BaT for either Spyders or Caymans these days. Here is a rough plot graph to show where the 2023 listings sit. I am not well versed on Excel graphs but if someone has an idea how to incorporate mileage, I am all ears.<<

Nice job and thanks for the effort in putting this together.

I'd like to suggest a footnote to the 3/7/23 "sale" however. The sale never happened as it appears the seller set the reserve too low and then backed out of the deal. Details can be found on BaT, but at a minimum this one is an outlier and not a true representation of past sale prices.

OK, so what do you all think would be a good price this winter for my Peridot CR, LWBs, sport chrono (added by dealer), PSE, 6sp with 37xxx miles? All records, owned about 6 years, clean Carfax and DME.

The E88s will be separate if i do sell. Have the original wheels in black.

Andy, I would hope your R would go for around $75-$80k, using this car as a comp https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...e-cayman-r-11/. That car is a paint-to-sample example with more miles that sold last year north of $80k, but the Periodot is just as striking IMO and you car checks all the nice to have options as this car has.

Granted the market has cooled since a year ago and winter may not be the most ideal time to sell, but I hope I am right. A better question is why would you sell that?!

Grumble, grumble, grumble....all these nay-sayers for PDK + sofa seats (heated!) - makes for a perfectly fine Spyder. Grumble, grumble, grumble....

I'd sell it because I've had really fun 6 cylinder manual Porsches for years, and am downsizing a bit. Also, you all won't believe it, but I'm enjoying the hell out of a new Boxster S with a PDK. I'm pretty sure it's the most fun Porsche around these days. The CR is beautiful and unusual, but I've ended up driving it less and less... Same old story.

Right now it's in storage for the winter, I'll take it out on April and see how I feel then.

I wouldn't put it on BAT whatever I do. I think that their reserve request is artificially low, and I'm liking the site less and less.

Andy - stunning car, the E88's really work well in black on there.
I think if you wanted to sell it quickly, today, $75-78k would do the trick. As you're already planning though, take it back to stock, that'll net you the most amount of money. Why do I think that price and not $80k+. 1) while we haven't seen many Cayman R's transact recently, the market as a whole has cooled a bit since last year. 2) miles, they're not high, but they're also not low. Would the miles bother me at all? No. I actually think it's the perfect mileage for a Cayman R, because I'm going to enjoy it without worrying about every mile I put on it. But, I think if I start getting into the mid $80s, I'd be looking for something with 20k on it. 3) assuming your car has some track use on it. That is not an issue, but again, there will be people that will talk down price because of that.

Now here's what's funny, if I was in the market for a Porsche today and I didn't own my 997 GT3 and 997 GT3 prices were where they are today, I'd gladly spend $80k for your car. But I'm also trying to be realistic with where the market is today and what others may pay or say when negotiating on your car.

As a reference point, Nathan Merz of Columbia Valley Luxury cars recently had a Cayman R, buckets, 6 speed with 27k miles and buckets for $73k. Car sold within a day. So that is too cheap, but just giving you a reference point. https://rennlist.com/forums/spyder-c...-for-sale.html

Personally, I'd have a hard time selling your car. Peridot is such an amazing color. But I'm also of the mentality that you can't keep everything. There's both financial constraints as well as space constraints. In order to try new stuff, typically both of those things come into play, but frequently space is a concern with guys on here and it sounds like you're really enjoying your Boxster too. Best of luck!

Thanks for the thoughts guys, I'll wait out the winter and see how it all feels in the spring. The car is in its heated storage.

There is a low mileage red Spyder FS in the marketplace for $78,000. Looks great but all Porsches look great in red.

As mentioned, market has cooled a bit. I'd say $67-75k for quick sale.

Peridot is a phenomenal color, but also the second most popular color... not equal to a 1-of-1 PTS car.

Doesn't look good for the 3.8 CR if Eric is still looking for top money for it.

He may be doing PcarMkt with reserve just to get a feel for the market before shoving it on BaT with a true intent to sell.

It sounds like a killer build but I imagine the market for Cayman Rs is already kind of on the narrow side and a car that thoroughly modified narrows you buyer pool that much further. It sounds like it was done with all the love in the world but the unfortunate reality of our hobby is that a low mile stock car is a lot easier to sell than a hot rod. The only cars that seem to regularly command premiums for mods are overlanding vehicles (if that's still the case). So you have to get somewhat lucky with the right potential buyer(s) interested at the right time. Also it's a CA car but not all of the country is as excited for sports cars this time of year as other times. If I hadn't already picked up a GT4 earlier in the year you better believe I'd have been driving over to see this car though even if it's missing some of the understatement of a stock R.

I think prices for these cars on BAT have come down a ton (987s generally, and even GTS 981s). The bidders for these cars seem not to know much of anything about them except bore scoring, bore scoring and IMS. I put my red Boxster S for sale there late summer and had a terrible experience. Luckily it didn't make reserve, else I'd have been selling to some dealer who was looking to pick it up cheap.
