Default Window screeching

Hello,

my 2021 C4S has been in the stable since late July and is an amazing machine. My only issue so far is an obnoxious screeching noise when I roll down the windows.
The screeching has come from both sides on different occasions but not always. seems strange.
any advice on a fix is appreciated.

Did you have your car coated with anything?

my 911 has full PPF with ceramic coating. Is that the likely culprit??

They probably coated the windows with something. So my guess would be yes.

Alternatively, you could have small grains of sand/dirt stuck in the gasket at the top of the door. Try cleaning the inside of those gaskets.

Your dealer can adjust the window mechanism, it is probably a little off and causing the noise.

OP, did you ever find out why it was screeching? My drivers side window screeches 95% of the time I roll up or down over the past 3-4 months since new.

I had the exact same problem with my 2021 911... I did have window tint, but I am not sure that is what caused it since it had tint for a year before the sound started... Problem went away (because I traded the car in for a 2023 that is being built next week!) lol

yeah mine has no tint. It screeched before and after I installed the AWE wind foilers. My fear is the little window motor is under more load and will eventually give up

The screeching did go away on mine, so I figured it was the ceramic coating. Didn't do any tinting so I assume it was that.

sold the car last year though to make way for a Targa GTS. Didn't opt for tinting on the Targa either and so far no screeching.

My driver-side window screeched a few times when the car was new; it went away after a few weeks and hasn't returned.

Ideally, Porsche should fix it under warranty like in these posts (1 and 2).

I had a similar issue. It was driving me crazy so I took a look at it today.
It turns out there is a rubber guide at the front end of the door that gets folded inwards and rubs against the window causing a squeak or screech.
My guess is it can get this way if you roll the window all the way down - by pressing down button after one touch down.

Take off the exterior metal rail (don't bend it) and rubber on top of door for better access. (find a video on youtube)
Roll the window down.
Using a long thin stick like a wooden paint mixer or shim, try to reposition the rubber at the front end of the window so it's no longer folded inward. Start from top of the open and work your way down.
(See pic with arrows)

Use long thin object to guide out the rubber guide

Slowly roll up the window while positioning the rubber guide to not fold inward. Continue until the window is mostly up and you no longer have access.
If the rubber guide is salvageable, you should be able to roll down the window without the rubber guide folding back in and roll it back up without the squeak.

Rubber guide in correct position

Hope this helps.

Is your car no longer under warranty?
