Listed by a dealer, who called it a "1978 Porsche S" . Rear seat A/C doesn't seem legit for a '78, and the spare tire cover would have been chipboard, not the plastic, correct? Aftermarket radio, dash cover hides unknown, wrong wheels, exhaust, and rear quarter trim is bright. Auto trans & leather seats, which look good. I bet the interior is a transplant from a newer car. Paint looks good in the photos. And there's an issue raised in the questions as to the VIN, and if the car is actually a '78 or '79.

Questionable, but presentable driver-quality car. Was it well bought?
question for the buyer and seller is: why is the entire interior replaced with a later car? I had emailed the seller >2 months ago and he still advertised it as "original as far as I know". Bet the bid will not go through. Too bad the interior will have to be replaced back to original in my opinion.

I will obviously take better pics, but polishing and washing take time, and I have other projects.

1986.5 928 Auto
Gold over Brown
120k miles
Belt checked
May replace tires on 16s, but riding on the 18s you see in one of the pics.
I will be replacing the TPS as it shorts at WOT.
Just changed oil and Coolant.
Needs normal 928 stuff, including Pan gasket, motormounts, tie rods, etc.

The great thing about posting it here first is I get to say this: If you think changing the motormounts and doing the pan gasket is some HUGE monumental task, then you shouldn't be here. These cars are 30 years old. This thing was stored for 3 years because of a timing belt light. The timing belt is great, and the ground came off. Put it back on with the help of a great guy (I can do all this, but I disassemble), and have been driving for a couple weeks every day.

The paint is fine for DD, but it is not going to shine up because the clear has fracturing. It is not coming off, but it looks like it has microscratches.

That said, in its current state, I think its at least 7k. Thoughts? Be honest, I can take it.
This car has a deposit on it. I think it was priced pretty well.

Congrats! We shouldn't forget that it was priced even better before you got the courage and took the plunge! Glad you worked on and cleared the timing belt light. It's a beautiful machine and you made it better and more reliable to another happy home.

'82 auto with competition package and decent interior.
Fairly priced, won't last long.

'80 with wrong front/rear bumpers but decent interior (wrong door cards).
Looks like an euro-S engine.

Hopefully, all our 928s will go up in prices like this car has in the past 12 months:
$2500 (Wisconsin), $5000 (Idaho), $11,950 (Western MA) now!
If I remembered correctly, >185,000 miles with a non-working odometer. Newer exhaust system put in by the Idaho owner. Decent interior. Rusted spots on driver's side door top with dent (evidence of prior crow-bar to door, like locked keys in the car).

Default 91 Black GT

When did it become the buyers job to help the seller on anything? If the seller had such a great sob story maybe he should have done some research before just throwing the car out there. That's called personal accountability. I've had other sellers give great 'sob stories' only to find out they are lying their *** off. Maybe he knows it suffers from a myriad of problems and it playing dumb. Regardless, as a buyer it's my job to do the research, ask the right questions, do the inspection and make the deal. If the seller accepts the deal that means he's happy with it. End of story.
