Can the PTS window open for me at any time prior
to the start of production?

The PTS window might open JUST prior to your
production date. But PAG is probably too far
committed to your current order & the coordination
of all the logistics surrounding its scheduled Oct
production to allow you to change anything at
that late date!

But check with your dealer & PCNA to see what
they say. And remember, getting one of the few
PTS slots for the .2 991 gt3 will not be easy!

If yes, I'm fine with actual production getting
pushed out to 2018.

Depending in the relationship with your dealer,
you could give up your allocation, let the dealer
sell the gt3 to someone else & then have your
dealer offer you a PTS slot (if he is so lucky as
to have received even one
). Are you a betting
man & have won the Powerball Lotto before?

My PTS options: Mexico Blue or Sport Classic Gray,
which I understand would be available.

'Mexico Blue' is for sure available via PTS at PAG.
'Sport Classic Grey', color code 63A, is a different
kettle of fish. It was held exclusive for that limited
editon for many years at Porsche.

Then it was made available to one VIP for his 918.
And mysteriously, it was also allowed to be ordered
via PTS on a few 991 & 981 (e.g. a Spyder) a few
years ago. Since then we have heard nothing in
terms of anyone being able to order that rare hue.
And it has never, to my knowledge, been included
in the approved PTS list published regularly by PAG.
Werner - good luck!

I can understand why it is not available. Good color for government cars.

I didn't realized Sport Classic Grey is this hard to get.

A little over a year ago, I found this PTS Sport Classic Grey Turbo S for sale at Porsche Santa Barrera. It was absolute gorgeous, should have pick it up.

Thanks Eduardo. Always learn something new from your post.

There are two sport classic gray 918's in this country. It's rare but it exists.

I met Melissa Witek at the AMG Project 1 unveiling yesterday here in Berlin, what a nice person, very knowledgeable. had a short chat about why PTS is so complex to order, and a few other things. I don't want to go OT so I'll leave it at that, but that Project 1 with the f1 engine is truly next level stuff.. Porsche will have to do something incredibly compelling to capture that $1M+ customer moving forward. NDA signed as well as phone AND watch confiscated so no pics or further details to share for the moment, but i can say it looks like the love-child between a CLK-GTR and an Aston Martin Valkyrie. Ok, OT done.

I CAN say that regarding Porsche Melissa said there is a lot more training forthcoming for dealers to help customers with this & CXX processes.

Eduardo, Oracle of Colors,

What is the story with Night Blue Metallic and why is it the one color from the 911 palette that isn't offered on the GT3?

Do you happen to know the history of this dark blue metallic paint? Any relation to the same Night Blue Metallic name which VW offers on the Golf etc.?

Who is that German Colonel Sanders behind the AMG GT R? That's a real question.

2,4 mio € as i was told.

1,6l V6 F1 engine 760hp
+ 410hp 4x e-motor
idle 4k rpm
redline 11k rpm
just all 20k miles engine revision needed (but thats for sure a 100k job)

275 units "all sold out" (i don´t believe sold out based on all the client catch events)

reveal IAA 2017 Frankfurt

MB / AMG is in full flow - i expect crazy stuff on a new level.

Default 'Night Blue Metallic' and other 'blue' topics...

What is the story with Night Blue Metallic and
why is it the one color from the 911 palette that
isn't offered on the GT3?

Probably because the current color palette that
you see in the configurator for the 991 is still for
their MY2017 models:

The .2 991 gt3 is in reality a MY2018 & my guess
is that 'Night Blue Metallic' will not be offered in
the MY2018 on any 991 model. So PAG decided
to drop that color from the MY2018 gt3 configurator
& leave you one color short:

I would think that once the MY2018 regular 991
changes are announced soon PAG will reveal the
new color they will replace 'Night Blue Metallic'
with. Question is if .2 991 gt3 customers will be
allowed to choose that color & when?

*
Do you happen to know the history of this dark
blue metallic paint? Any relation to the same
Night Blue Metallic name which VW offers
on the Golf etc.?

No. I do not follow 'metallic' colors that closely
because they don't interest me that much. This
particular 'Night Blue Metallic' appears to be a
new formulation at Porsche & was introduced
just recently - in MY2016. Its color code is
supposed to be M5F. I have not idea how
this 'NBM' is related to any VW color with a
similar name.

What upsets me is the confusion that this
current 'Night Blue Metallic' causes. Back
in the 993 years, Porsche also had a color
called 'Midnight Blue Metallic' with a color
code 39C. That same color code is available
today via PTS. But the idiot savants at PAG
call it 'Night Blue Metallic' or 'Nachtblaumetallic'.
And that name also happens to be the current
color but with a different color code. Go figure.

There seems to be a clear lack of interest or
education in the folks at Porsche that are today
naming colors. For example, there is not reason
for the current PTS list to have two 'Slate Grey'
colors with different color codes. One is the
historic hue - 615. The other is a newbie that
they also decided to call by the same historic
name but with a totally different appearance
& color code - Y97.

PS to mcsmcs1:

Our fellow Rennlister Sccchiii apparently wants
to talk to me about writing a script for a movie
about my hero Ferdinand Piëch. Could I interest
you in a cameo role as 'Martin Winterkorn'?
You'll need to move from Austin to Hollywood.
Can you deal with that?

yes, A LOT OF TRAINING.
basic english comprehension would be a start.

i asked about pts
they replied "what CXX option do you have in mind"
i said "nothing, i hate CXX, i just want pts"
they " nice, why dont you like CXX"
me "b/c it is garbage, can you tell me more about PTS process"
they " i am sure we can design a CXX pkg to your liking, would u like to visit us in GA or LA"
ME " NO, unless u fly me there first class. oh i dont want CXX as i mentioned. i just want to understand the PTS process"
they " ok, CXX can make ur car unique...."

i hung up.
what a waste of my time.

I guess that's at least preferable to the Pischetsrieder role, and surely Winterkorn calls for more than a cameo, no?

On the Midnight Blue Metallic matter, I owned a 1992 Porsche 911 Turbo (964) in this color, but it was color code F8F8. Much to my complete surprise, CJ currently has my former '92 Turbo for sale at his McLaren dealership in Scottsdale.

Thank you Eduardo!
