True. I also think the GT4 bought in a new set of owners. The GT4 doesn't have the history or the cache yet of the GT3, but it has a younger feel to it, and it's more affordable. Give it time, and the GT4 "brand" maybe catch up to the GT3, at least to some.

the 981 body production ceased last year so there be no other variation of that model.

the 718 body is designed to accomidate the smaller motor with turbos. Not much room in there.
It wont fit the 911 motor with turbos..

Can it fit a non turbo 6 motor? Perhaps.
4.0L GT3 motor will be too expensive and take away from the 911 GT3 models.
Id expect a GTS X51 motor with PDK option before a GT3 motor....

The 718 body will be the basis for the next GT4 if they build it. Cant see them skipping a GT4 and going straight to GT4RS...

Lets not forget that porsche said they will never use the RS name on anything other then 911.
So no RS badge on the cayenne, cayman, boxster etc....

Possible the GT4RS gets the detuned outgoing 4.0.

The new 4.0L for the GT3 will be a different mortor.

Porsche, if you are reading this, I thank you for your tremendous engineering and all the joy my car brings me. Now, with great admiration, I implore you: please do not "detune" anything on the GT4 RS.

Think of the laws of nature. Survival of the fittest. If you hold back the cayman from striving against the 911, you are fighting against nature itself, and both cars will suffer.

924GTS are selling at high prices, but that was a limited run.

I had bought the GT4 over a vanilla 911 because it was a more special car and cost about the same. That said, I'd have a hard time spending $130-140k on a Cayman product -- fair or not.

$120k optioned out, $110k base makes sense, but I'm skeptical they'll do that.
i would take a GT4 over any 911 except R, RS , GT3

I'm sure most in here would agree, but I doubt the broader market would agree.

I loved the GT4. I also loved that it was cheap in comparison to a GT3/RS. But the GT4RS would need to be limited numbers and very special to justify $130k+. Either that or they price GT3 into the 170+ range. Maintain ~$40k delta. Which could happen.

$20k difference between GT4 and GT3 - I don't see a ton of people going GT4, no matter the merits.

I think of the non-GT 911 as a completely different animal. GT car in the grand touring sense. Not as much a pure sports car.

Fwiw I spoke w/ my GM today about the gt4rs. I started the convo as being skeptical and not trustworthy of a car website looking for clicks (auto express etc) stating 4.0

He said another form (internal) of info informed him that a gt4rs was likely in 4.0 and likely close to the one the "old" 4.0. I know typical cleaning lady told me something drama, but it's from someone I trust.

my dealer says it's all rumors but if it is true it would be in 2019 as end of 718 cycle.

Perhaps Porsche decides to use the GT4 RS for the purpose of actually raising prices of the 911 and GT3. By manufacturing a GT4 RS with similar paper performance to the 991 GT3, they can price it close to the current GT3 price. This will make it convenient too now bump the 991.2 GT3 up $20,000+ and also increase MSRP some percentage on all 911s. Regular GT4 can compete with 911S paper performance and price.

On a positive note we probably have something to debate, will they or won't they, for the next year.
