A track car with a non track durable engine. Not a real great thing for resale unless you don't want to track it. carl

Extrapolation
It is amazing how many people are speculating a RS version GT4.
It is wishful thinking all the while the real speculation is for the upcoming GT2....
The Cayman line up will always be smaller then 911 line up.
There will be S, GTS and maybe a GT4.
For a low volume model that more then enough variants.

If this car ever comes to fruition it will have both options is my guess. They will want those who have a GT4 to trade up and those who want to use it mostly on the track to have a "Automatic" option

This is crazy, there is no way they will put anything other than a 4 cylinder in any 718.
When the cleaning lady was spilling the beans about this car she simply said the engine will be a 4. The listener mistakenly took this to mean 4.0...

A quote from last year.....
The GT4 is likely to remain the most potent Cayman, too. Preuninger admitted that Porsches engineers were tempted to build a GT4 RS edition but said, The problem with that is that you end up with a car where you need to charge the same as a GT3 RS, so theres no point. Its not in the plan

Whilst I'm not really yet convinced that there will be an RS and that it would have the 4.0, I dont think these statements add significantly to the argument against.

I really do hope they build this car. I am going to trade my GT4, or give first option to a "true" buyer and grab the GT3. And if the GT4RS ever pops up; will evaluate it then. But, there is no way it will out perform the higher models in HP but with the mid-engine platform and some weight eliminated it would be a real interesting and fun car.
If I was AP I would push to build this. Have some fun and give it 450 HP and a true motor sport engine. Some will bitch they still held back but it would be a hell of a car.
