928s for Sale

This car has lots of stories. I called on it about 6 months ago and the seller is a real d!ck.... He thinks he knows everything when in fact he knows very little. The rear fenders have been repainted and one can only assume how they were done and about the quality of the work. The price has fluctuated $6k down to $15.8k and back up to where it is now. I'm not surprised this car hasn't sold in spite of its very rare color!

I think an owner of an early car can easily be fooled by the odometer. In 1999 I bought a one owner '78 5 speed from a physician. It looked very nice and the odo read 98,000. He said that was actual miles. It took me several months to notice that the odo would stop and go on its own whim. I would have testified under oath that the odo was accurate prior to realizing that it wasn't. I suspect the good doctor had now idea. And we know that the gear begins to slip and they often stop completely. The owner then knows that the mileage shown is not accurate.
My current '78 reads 134,xxx and records seem to confirm that. There is a sticker on the door however, reporting a replacement at 9,xxx miles. OB odometers are a very unreliable lot.
But, I also think that seat has seen more that 40K of use. My "98,000" mile seat looked better.

That Talbot is a very interesting car. Chuck's observations are good though. There seems to be some panel figment issues going on, especially with hood and rear hatch, and the lower part of the front bumper cover. Still, worth digging into with this rare combination.

I remember the pinstripes and thought the seller here removed them and was the same car. But like I said I'm not 100% on the details as it's been a while. Wish I had been the #1 caller way back then though, as my Talbot car needs full resto (but it is a '78 Euro )

Exact pinstripe pattern that's on mokka (tape) Wonder if there was a dealer kit of some kind?

There was a company named Trimline in the 70s and 80s which supplied all kinds of stripe kits to the trade. They may still be around. Many Firebird, sport vans etc had their products on them
