Not so great 991.2 sales are actually driving 991.1 prices upward or staying strong from my observations. Looking at a lot of the new listings, I'm really surprised by the pricing.

But in other news, the Macan had a 133% increase in October sales in 2016 over 2015.
I find it stunning that the mid-engine buyers have eaten up the turbo move very happily (although they got downgraded to 4 cylinders), whereas the 911 buyers did not accept the turbo even thought they at least stayed with a flat 6.
Talking to actual 718 buyers it seems that they spontaneously like the zippy new drive character and, most often heard, that Porsche is now offering a lot more modern electronics in the 718 that were previously reserved for the 911. I've seen people dump older Boxsters without a second thought after a simple test 718 drive at the dealer.
I didn't see any 911 refreshes with people I know, and I hear a common complaint that the prices are just out of line now (with the equipment they want). They only test drive when free autocross is offered and don't bite.

I am not so sure that the sales numbers are due to poor acceptance of the new 911. From what I can see, production has been limited and there just isn't any inventory to sell. Also, production slots seem to be at a premium.
For example, my dealership has one 911. They just bought one from another dealership so that they would have two. Lol. My SA also told me that they weren't receiving as much inventory. It would be interesting hear from somebody that actually knows....
As for me, the price seems to be pretty good for what you're getting. My base car coming in has roughly the same performance as last years "S", PASM as standard, and a lot of other improvements. I had a choice between buying a .1 or .2.
I drove a 2017 base 911 with MT. Liked it but nothing to buy at $100k for me, would rather a used 991.1S. However, I need to go take the new S for a spin with the Sport Package as it could change my mind. However, NA engines will be missed and soon almost nobody will make one with more than about 2.5L and 180hp. Time is passing us by . . .

Porsche controls supply very tightly. They make as many cars as they can sell. They aren't "holding back" street Carrera's. They know the demand for them (which must be under their goal), and seem to be a lot more cautious in not having excess inventory out there which causes more discounting and cars sitting on lots. They learned this lesson with the 991.1 Turbo/Turbo S's and Panamera's.
They are definitely playing this game with the GT cars and seems to be filtering down a bit.
Dealers want nice margins and they are playing the "luxury goods" game more so now.
By the way, Boxster/Cayman/718 sales are down in 2016 too. I don't expect them to be breaking any sales records either. The point about the 911 pricing being pushed too high has some validity. Over $100K for a base Carrera? Like mentioned, a 991.1 S for $70-$90K is the real "deal". Why the used market has been strong as noted in my previous comments.

I also think you have to look at global sales....not just sales into the US. They are likely selling a lot more in other parts of the world (China as an example because of the drop to a 3.0 engine). They could very well just be allocating more 911's elsewhere, especially if they are trying to gain market share there.
I posted that one back in July! Looks like they've only moved down about $1k on it from then. Been sitting for a while.
Jeez, you'd think they'd be a little more motivated to sell it by now!

Agreed, I thought it was Carrara white until I read the description. One hopes it looks better in person.
Re: boxster /cayman sales. - down 20% from last year and that includes sales of leftover '16 'S still on the lot. Not the 50% decrease of the 911 but still poor performance.
