To frigging hot to swap out the tranny, or work on any thing other than a gin & tonic. When it cools down, and I sober up, I'll get it ready for 3rd coast.
I hear you Joe. It was 107F the other day, and it's not a dry heat...
I made a new cargo area carpet (old one lost by P.O.), tightened the e-brake to 3 clicks, started converting that one pull-down cup holder to mount on the hump, mounted the fire extinguisher in place of the metal strap loop at the base of the driver's side rear seat, pulled the passenger-side tan seat I bought out of the corner of the garage to get dyed, and vacuumed the interior.
Oh! And while vacuuming I found my original glove box latch receiver!
Monday, the car goes to the body shop to get the sides painted to remove the traces of the rub strip glue and to cover the black paint that was revealed when the rub strips came off.
Tested the tentative 928 Frenzy #20 Fun Run route in my S4 this morning. It was fantastic. Pretty much every mile of the run is on a Virginia Scenic Byway. This is what we will be driving through for the entire Fun Run on our way to Lovettsville Oktoberfest. Of course, this was a good shake down run for my 928, which hasn't been out of the garage since early July.
Flushed the PSD, replaced the incandescent lamps with LEDs in the interior, footwell, glove compartment, door collision, bezels, gear selection, A/C controller and engine bay.
Finally have my tools, my car, and the garage to put them in (been working on the move for some time). Today re-serviced the seats with Surflex from Joanne at Colorplus.com. I do this about once a year to keep them looking sharp. Was a little overdo. Yesterday I let my son have the car locally for the day. He asked me if he could take to a little car show in Carthage NY. I said the car was NOT ready for entry. He said he was just going to go and 'check it out'. Car took 3rd place. Honestly I was not happy he entered the car which I felt was not ready. Car won 50$ for 3rd and I said he could have it (he's 17). Here's a not very good pic of car on way to show.
After nine years of ownership I realized that the accelerator pedal wasn't touching the kickdown switch and that my one gear downshifts were just being performed by the bowden cable alone. Half hour of fiddling with it later by lengthening the actuator rod and it's like I added a turbo switch. "Oh that's what a two gear downshift feels like!!"
The crossover breather hose between the cam covers apparently was resting on my temp II sensor boot and cooked it. The wires were touching so I'm wondering what kind of problem that was causing(?) Anyway, all better now

Mine was the same when I got the car. Looked like it been like that for many years.
I solved it by moving the acc pedal to the middle position on the floor (there is 3 positions on the floor). In the middle position the angle was right and the kickdown switch was engaged.
Got there late, so had a parking spot off the main road. Total of 3 Porsche's there (other 2 were 911s). Only stayed ~30 minutes, as dinner for the fam was waiting on me. Had quite a few people swing by to look under the hood and at the interior. Chatted up a '91 NSX owner who had nothing but love for 928s.
