Fantastic. I talked to the organizers about running the GT3 cup in Targa Tasmania but they wouldn't allow it. I was gearing up to run a Subaru but had to cancel due to work obligations. Makes me wonder if I should have just brought the street GT3. Will consider it next year.

Brilliant event, 25 years and going strong, but a high risk drive. Now that the main participating class is allowed minimal modification, it's only truly extraordinary cars straight off the showroom floor that can be competitive. But we already knew that about the GT3. Matt Close's car had only minor exhaust changes, not sure of the details but definitely not a full race exhaust, all else was stock.

The Viper ACR was incredibly quick but struggled in stages longer than 15km with deteriorating handling, before its engine blew on the longest stage.

There were 60 P cars touring off the front of the 250+ competitors, on closed roads. A great way to spend a week, but losing four of our number to accidents was sobering. Trees, gullies, loose gravel and bumpy roads can be unforgiving...

Looking at the top 7 cars in outright positions is enlightening.

4 of the top 7 were Pcars. 2 x GT3 and 2 x GT4.

Enjoy, and get some time behind the wheel in your GT3. I tried several iterations of Fabspeed exhausts before settling on race headers, side muffler valved bypasses with the OEM center muffler retained as my preferred set-up for exhaust tone and hp increase. But this is just one set-up that works ...
great info, thank you! ill post pics and vid after my track day!

Now...where do I find the TV feed for the Targa Tasmania? Looks very well worth watching the highlights at least. Marvellous.

Outstanding. Congratulations! It must have been a blast. Did you run stock dampeners?

Everything with the setup on our car, dampers, shocks, exhaust etc was absolutely stock. It was only a few months old and had approx 800 miles on the clock when we started the rally. It's very well run in now..... :-)

Indeed! Do you have a speed fence in Targa Tasmania as we do in Targa NZ (200kmoh)? The video reminds me how exciting targa is...
