Damn that shop is a lot cleaner now!!! when I was there picking up my Engine he has 13 Engines Lined up in that shop for Re-Build and 3 were already apart

Initially for the rebuild I was quoted $11,000 USD (add conversion to CDN + HST) which included clutch, re-sleeving, etc. Since I'm down-grading to a 3.6L 997 and he happened to have one that he rebuilt he is willing to do for the same price but clutch change is extra. So looking at about $14,500 CDN assuming no other hidden expenses (fingers crossed).

Now a 3.6L bolts right into a 3.8L? do you have to do Software?

I believe the 3.6 will bolt right in as its essentially the same engine as the 3.8. As for the software I will inquire if that needs to be modified.......good question

Was the overall condition of the 997 nice and well optioned? I personally wouldn't care if a "deal" was to be had.

That sucker was spinning like hell when it came apart. I would clean it up and make a coffee table out of it.

I know its funny, I called Pfaff to find out what the diagnosis was when the originally owner got it checked out after the engine blew. The diagnosis was "scored cylinder liners on cylinders 4, 5, & 6 and damaged pistons".........the check was done with a bore scope. Clearly someone didn't do their job well.........

You would expect better quality and craftsmanship on $150,000 car!

That would be a cool idea for a coffee table though!

Not sure I agree with this. Looks like someone pulled the liners to check for scoring, and if you look very closely to the center piston, there are signs of damage!
