That looks like an X51 engine. On the 996 3.6l it's worth another 20hp, but the torque curve is similar to the GT3 engine.
Heads and intake are off the GT3. Intakes are magnesium s opposed to composite.

I'm building a m96 now for a 6Carrera, short blocks from Porsche are a good route

Don't suspect any issue there, is a known d-chunk/cylinder failure... short block is new not reman... think core charge is a strategic business move..

Porsche is not asking for a rebuildable/usable core anymore? Just any core will do? Wasn't like this before.

I have a rebuildable 3.8 engine with 60,000 klms from 2006 Carrera if any one Is the interested.
Removed because of over rev. was running when removed with good oil pressure and temp.
No over heating. It Is complete with flywheel and clutch.
I have a low quality bore scope and does not appear to have scored cylinders.
Suspect bent Valves. I have only looked at a couple of cylinders as camera quit.
Have a new bore scope coming and will look at rest of cylinders.
