I recall a really cute (Philippino, I think) nurse in the head and neck recovery ward of TGH. Photos would be nice ...

It was great meeting you today Jaak. Although we've never met before there's clearly a sense of community in the toronto P-car fraternity and it was cool to chat about our cars for a bit. You're now a patient in my home turf and get to play with my toys like the morphine pain pump you lucky dog. Anyways, you now know how to get a hold of me in the hospital, so don't be shy if you need anything. Ok maybe I won't give you an unlimited script of pain killers or the phone numbers of those nursing students

Just saw this now.

Jaak, you've been helpful to me a few summers ago when I was replacing the railings on my house.

Let me know what you need now - groceries - someone to walk your dog/bring to the dog park - whatever.

I live in The Beach and am around to help out.

Jaak update for Thursday morning:

Swelling going down a little but still not gone of course; getting some "here and there" sleep and hoping that he can get some more with the reduction of pain meds...

Hang in there, Jaak!

BioBanker, this is so very kind and thoughtful of you and you've inspired me. Jaak is indeed, a great guy. If it comes to your attention that he needs anything and you need a second pair of hands, I'd be very happy to help.

Friday morning Jaak update:

Doing a bit better; still no food/water and the wait is bothersome.

He's not sure when they will allow food/water and currently is being nourished with direct line to the stomach via an esophageal tube.

Haven't had any nurse pics today but there is time; gather he's anticipating his sponge bath -- with the nurse pics, I offered to trade places with him...

Hang in there, Jaak, we're with you in thoughts, prayers, and well wishes!

All good... I'm leaving the nurse pic posting for Jaak to do when he gets "online" again... in the meantime, I can tell you that he is in good hands, and..., and...

Cancer is a pain in the ***.
Good it was caught. Good that your dealing with it.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. I have had a few friends get 2-3-4-5th opinion.
Often wasting valuable time. Good for you in taking the wheel.
Most of us are on the older side. It is all maintenance from here.
Dr's appointment every year, dental every 6 months, eyes checked every few years.
Bum cam every few years. Who needs a check up? book it now.
This is a learning community, and this is a lesson for all of us.
Again, speedy recovery
