Thanks guys... the kind words do help.

I have gone into the tired rebuild mode from the panic mode that has me being worn out. This is a good sign with the visiting Nurse remarking as to how well my face has healed. Still hard to try and drive as my right arm has to heal as that's where they cut the bone grafts from ... as well as muscle and veins. Hard moving it ... but I am working on beating it!!!

Have visit with Cancer Doc at PMH and Dental Surgeon this Friday. Will see to what the next course of action is. Have appointment on 20th to fix scars etc.

On another note. The Operating Room I was in was rated as the best in the world in November with latest tech .... and the Nurse prepping me for surgery stated that the Doc's working on me also went to the states and worked on Michael Douglas' throat Cancer. They are the best!!!

I have mercilessly trashed the Canadian health care system, wait times, how clinging to a single tier model has brought down the level of care for all of us, but your experience has really proven that when it works, it works really well. 2 1/2 months from initial findings to where you are today, with a $180 bill in total for a 7-figure procedure is downright amazing, I have to say.

We are truly lucky to be protected like that. And great to hear the prognosis is good.

I feel the same way. My buddy's mom is here for a visit from Russia for a month and last weekend she had a stroke. $2500/day hospital stay. The guy is risking loosing his house. That and what Jaak just said made me realize that I better stop complaining about my free healthcare.

Doc's on our forum have stated that the system is there for those who need it and places those that abuse the system on hold. I have nothing but praise for the system so far. I have been looked after quite well with my medical needs being met. The operation could of been earlier except there were 2 others that were in dire shape that needed it before me. So, from being diagnosed of Dec 10th to being operated on Feb 10 is not too bad. The first meet with Cancer Doc was Dec 20th who set up CT scan for Jan 16th. Scan showed the sinus was filled and bone had to be removed as well. It also showed my chest was clear and in good health. PMH, THG network is one of the best out there. A friend has a Doc in NYC who works the Cancer hospitals out there and they stated the PMH was the best out there. I will support the hospital system the best I can. Seems I was in here -> http://www.thestar.com/news/insight/...he_future.html

On a side note, most of the guys in my Head & Neck ward had all retired early in their 50's. Within a few years cancer popped in, just like me. What I found out from medics is to have a blood test done to look for Cancers before they start getting worse. Maybe get yourself checked out before you retire.

Let me know if you'd like Thor to get down to the dog park on a weekend..I'm down there with Penny my Vizsla for hours!
Thanks! Thor has his posse here who keep him happy. Neighbours where in competition to take him out for a walk. A few of his girlfriends love to go out with him and take pleasure in his company. Every evening a few get together so we can do a quick walk in the park behind the street. Just waiting for warmer weather.

I agree ... but we must also have an additional Tier as well to help back the primary Tier where required. There should be private and public system co-existing out there to take some of the load off.

In my personal experiences with my family and my issue, our system does work. Has for me and my family. To introduce the same system today would not work. We do have a good system which can be improved on in some areas providing the politicians keep their noses out of it!

I am a big admirer of the Canadian Health system, as is my wife, who is American. Of course there are more features at the top of the American system, but only for those who pay, and the quality is no better overall. As Jaak has said, the treatment is first class. Looking forward to your coming back to the GTG Jaak!

I need 1 course of radiation as they did find 1 cell in one node. They want to stop it in it's tracks.

The Dental part was very screwy today. Needles to say I was a bit pissed at them and raised my voice a slight bit. They seemed to be a bit off ...I have to back on Tuesday to have two teeth removed .... before radiation starts. First appointment id for March 19th to I guess get everything set up. I'll see what goes on then.
