Well soon my 928 will not sit across town at my mothers house, she will be home where she belongs.
Some of you may remeber my thread about the lift clearance, well that is all solved. I'm just getting everything else ready for the lift.
My first stage has been to build a pair of swing out doors. Since I want to maximize ceiling space for my car and for the much needed storage shelves for wheels and kid toys.
I had looked at roll up garage doors, but they just look too much like a storage unit. I also got quotes on custom carriage doors for like 7 grand, ouch.
So off I went to Home Depot. I ended up building the doors out of 4 24" wooden doors. They were doweled together and mounted on a 2x4 frame. Total cost for the doors was about $650 including all the wood and hardware. There pretty solid, and after a coat of oil based primer and three cotes of exterior satin latex, they look pretty good. I used a tone of screws and much glue so these suckers are pretty solid.
For automation I will be using a pair of Mighty Mule gate motors, mounted on the inside at the top of the door. The nice thing about these is that they are battery operated, so in the event of a power failure they wil still operate. The battery is charge via a trickle charger.

The gate opener I got from the states, for just under $600 before shipping. With brown clown charges and shipping they cost about $750.
Now my garage is small only 130" x 228" and once I remove the false ceiling and put up the drywall I will have 124" of height clearance. But the lift mounting plates will have 9" of clearance on either side.
When the installer comes he will anchor and check the depth of the concrete. Hopefully all is well. If not then I will have lift in place so i can mark the area where it's going to site, cut the pad and lay deeper footings.
Tonight I finally got the doors in place, I still have to shim and adjust them and fully anchor the frame. As well I need to finishe trimming the outer and interior parts of the frame.

Ingenious!
You've got me thinking if you can cut down the extension into the driveway when the door is being opened by making each side a bi-fold setup, however that would require a different garage door opener mechanism, as well as tracks for the two central doors to guide on, plus the doors will likely rattle in strong winds.
Scratch that idea!!

How will you bolt the lift down when they say it has to be fastened no closer than 6 inches from the wall? It doesn't appear that you will have room to do that?

Obviously a swing out door is not ideal, but it's going to maximize my storage capabilities.
If I had somewhere else to store all this stuff I would have gone with a new roll up and the liftmaster.
And I already have two small sheds that are stuffed.

Then build one big shed! Or get an old shipping container........your neighbours will love ya! ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
On a serious note, I like your project.
A 4 post lift is so stable that anchoring the posts isn't nearly as vital as on a 2 post lift.

Automation almost complete. The doors move a little slow, but that's probably a good thing for the little ones.
I still need to insulate the doors and finish the trim work. But at least I can start the interior reno's.
Lift is going to be scheduled for April 27th install.
