Had my 2008 cayman s for 1.5 months now. Was driving along today with windows open and noticed that there is a ticking sound from the engine. I don't hear it with the windows up in the cockpit. But I here it with the windows down or standing outside the car at idle. I also noticed as I straighten out in right hand turns a kind of wooshing noise from the rear right side.
What are these noises and are they normal? Am I just paranoid?

Could be any number of things from nothing to "might want to have it looked at".
Loose exhaust hangers/heat sheilding can make a rattling sound at idle, as can anything else loose on the car.
If it's at startup, it could be noisy lifters. Does this go away when the car is warm?
What clive said, post up in the cayman technical forum, you'll get a broader spectrum of answers.
The mechanic said it was low oil. Added oil and its fine. Said only had one litre in it which is normal as I drove 5000kms and the car burns 1 l per 1000kms. That's what I was told. Is that true? Why didn't a sensor kick in?

IDK how the tech would know how much oil was left in the pan, but it's probably pure conjecture on his part as to how much oil your car burns. I recommend that you monitor the oil consumption closely and please don't let it get that low in the future.
wtf ? a quart every 1000km ? that is insane. my car is over 35 years old and burns a quart every 5 k
I'd be suspicious, I assume your PPI included taking out the spark plugs and borescoping the cylinder walls. Our engines are prone to bad oiling/cooling and which results in scuffing the wall enough to cause major oil consumption and eventually engine rebuilds.
