have they changed their tune and now looking into this? they said this is normal but are looking into it. There is no way one litre per thousand kms is normal. They should be reprimanded by Joe Lawrence for telling you this is normal. hopefully you get a new engine in time for dry roads! good luck!

Hey people, I have a friend with a Honda Accord still under warranty and she is having it monitored. 1 litre every 1000km. Honda says that's normal. <soup **** voice> "No Engine for you!"

All my Audi's and my VW Touareg with well worn engines (All >160k km's) use 1 litre every 5000km or less.

wow .. makes you wonder 2 things ....

1. Why are we bothering doing clean air tests and making owners responsible if they allow car manufacturers to burn a litre of oil every 1000km.
2. Those cats must be getting hammered....

I'll keep you all updated. I just spoke with them and they said they will have a diagnosis and a plan tomorrow morning.

I am now waiting to hear back re: what the exact diagnosis is with regard to the oil consumption issue and what is being done about it. Mike, who was out of the country for training, responded directly to my emails right away from his phone it would seem and made sure I got taken care of right away. Joe Tam is taking care of me now as well as Rafi is away. I understand that Mike is back today and that I will be hearing shortly exactly what is going on.

Very impressive service quality!

They are giving me a brand new engine. Multiple cylinders are damaged. Great service from Pfaff Porsche!

congrats ... glad you came here and got some solid advice to go back and tell them it wasnt normal i bet

Now you are going to see what normal oil consumption should look like .. Since you have only had the car a relatively short time i think someone who checked it out for CPO didnt do their due dilligence. either that or the process needs to be reviewed.

Actually that should be in your owners manual. I know the way I would do it but many would disagree.

Good news! Is there anyway to determine why it happened? do they need to disclose that before replacing the engine? just curious....

Glad to hear you pushed on dealer and they got it addressed. Sad to think that they would not investigate further first time around.
