Found out from Mike at Pfaff what engine I am getting: "same model and displacement that your original engine was but with any and all improvements for that engine, like the upgraded Intermediate shaft bearing system which I'm sure you have heard or read about. All wear items etc are new, not remanufactured, plus it comes complete and in running state, including wiring harness, new injectors, new catalytic converters and oxygen sensors, new alt, new water pump, new PS pump, etc"

Sounds pretty good, eh!

So impressed now with Pfaff!

Great that they came through but how do they explain telling you the oil consumption was NORMAL?
while they are in there maybe they can check the clutch wear?

OP you've won a small lottery. What's the mileag? You may want to take Turbodan's advice and use this opportunity to inspect the clutch and pressure plate, then if warranted, put in a new clutch/pressure plate by just paying for the parts, maybe an hour of labor top.

Awesome, glad to hear it.

Some oil consumption is normal and you have to understand how customers are when they show up at a dealership. Remember we're the 1% who are knowledgeable to talk online with others who have the same experience. So when we say 1L /1000km we mean it. Think about others people though, if they have to put in oil at all between the 10,000km change they will complain about oil consumption to the dealer. Of course the dealer will say it's normal cause they hear it all the time, but there is the cases like you where what you're saying is ACTUALLY what's happening and they will take care of it.

If you have ever worked with the public you know what I'm talking about. I used to be a Branch Manager for a bank and customers would complain about standing in line for 15 mins for a teller, I check the video is was 3 minutes. It's whatever you lead yourself to believe in your own mind. There are cases when people wait 15 mins (or burn 1L /1000km) and needs to be addressed.

+1 for Pfaff for me too. I showed up at 5:15 for parts (they close at 5) and I didn't realize what time it was. They were still there just finishing up and served me anyway, I even offered to come back once I realized they were closed. Nope he said, we'll still take care of any customer if we're around. Great guys there.

+2 Last Fall, I had called Parts (needed some coolant and a 7.5 fuse). Told them I would be by later in the evening for the UCR Social. They said they'd be closed by then but would leave my items at Reception for me (and I could pay for them there). Nice.

Greg called this one on you having the Audi for awhile! (and everyone else here face-palming ourselves on your oil consumption being normal)

They'll never tell you why - they'll just say sorry and hand you a customer service form to fill out asking if you 'like' their service...

Apparently cylinders 4 and 6 were scored and leak of 40 per cent. The engine they gave me is 987100921JX any meaning to that?

Only thing now is depending on how long that car was running and burning that oil. Your catalytic converters longevity could now be comprised. If you get a check engine lamp in the future you know why. Lucky they have a 8 year new car warranty on them.

Doubt the site is accurate. For a Turbo/GT2 they have an engine (longblock?) listed at $95,000.

Nope, if Porsche picked up the tab the the line item for engine will likely just say $0, ditto for labor.

CPO can be a very good thing, I bought extended warranty for my last car, and took full advantage of it and then some, I saw the actual invoice once with some major repairs before the one printed for me showing just the small deductable, it was shocking.
