Default Got it!

OK good news... I think I found the problem, but I don't have any electrical tools to fix it right now!

As you can see in this picture:

The two wires on the left are spliced together. These are the wrong wires to be spliced. 86 and 87a should be spliced. These two wires however both belong to terminal 86!

So when the wiring should have been like this:

It was like this! :

So the pump was always powered with switched power from the ignition. Makes sense - right?

Now I need someone to come over with some tools because my fiance is at work for another 2 hours and I can't drive the 911 to get anything! Found the problem and now I can't fix it haha.

Cheers!

Did the engine work with the bypassed FP relay?

I imagine it did. With it configured like that the safety switch in the air flow plate is bypassed. If the engine stalls the air plate falls completing tbe circuit for the relay. That in turn pulls the fuel pump out of the run circuit of the ignition and back into the start circuit.
But maybe i should have read the thread tho. Maybe you guys new this already.
I am not sure why people bypass the safety switch but i have definitely seen ig before. Maybe for starting difficulties at some point

Ok so I wired it up as it should be and no dice. That is probably why it got hacked in the first place. Spent a couple hours trouble shooting with the multimeter and finally realized the ground interruption for the air flow sensor (which is working) was maintaining a ground from the anti-theft system. Traced the wires to find the connection, unplugged it, and bob's your uncle.

Cheers,

JR

PS: I damaged my sunroof cable thingy so I am not posting my 'sun-roof fix' yet... Getting a used one tomorrow from a friend! Then you can see the shiny aluminum tracks I cleaned/polished up

Wow, this is better than Adrian Streather - which is all we mechanically challenged types are capable of absorbing. Had no idea Clive is so knowledgeable. Thought he claimed to be all Google and no substance! I'm just getting the nerve up to jack the car so I can detail the rims.

Ok, I didn't take any progress pics... sorry, but I think I have a couple of pics of the tracks re-installed. I completely disassembled the sunroof, cleaned the tracks, lubricated, had to hammer one section flat again as the new (used) cable wouldn't go in etc...

Sunroof is all back together now and it is lightning fast, smooth and quiet! Finally I can wash it again... lol

Next up, complete my heater backdate project...

Then... Brakes (will take lots of pics!) (this summer)

Then... MSD Install! (Fall?)

Then... Get some real wheels! (sometime this year?)

Then... Suspension (might do interior first, winter project)

Then... Interior (might swap the order here...) (winter project, one of them)

Then... Case split motor rebuild, Ps + Cs, EFI, ITBs etc... + 915 Rebuild and Rennshift (2-3 years down the road?)

Repaint? (10 years away)

Buy another car that's already good to go... LOL

MSD ignitions are notoriously unrealible. Most serious race cars will have a backup already mounted in the car. If this is not a track only car, I wouldn't use one.

Love it!! When u do the engine rebuild, will you twin plug? Cams? How much bigger displacement??

Rear wheels on my list too.... Want to find some 8" Fuchs... (or rather want to find some money for 8" fuchs)
