No problem! Yes that side is 128” wall to wall, other side is 119”.

I can’t tell if in that drawing above they only set it to 10’1” which would be an error.

Ah, no, the 10’1” means there is only 7” left between the post and wall. I wonder if the motor can be mounted on the front vs the side.

Okay, guess I can simply park the Tesla a bit forward and walk behind it that way, benefits of a tandem vs 3 car I guess. Now it occured to me i should check if the trunk can open without hitting the car lift, or if I can adjust the height of what it opens to in the Tesla.

There is a relocating bracket that you can buy to mount the pump in-line with the post (either in front or behind the post). I had one but didn’t use it so I sold it last summer.

Where is the door into your house? Under the mezzanine?

Door is on other side so no issues there.

Good. Little things that I ran into were: foundation changes where support columns are located (a little bigger than the rest of the wall), drywall boxes where there was HVAC ducting, stairs into the house, leaving 6 inches from the wall or slab edge for bolting down the lift…and the big one was the garage floor slope! If it is too big side-to-side or front-to-back, you will have to bolt it down.

Okay, I think I can work with this, now just to decide on the DirectLift Pro 8 long or the Bendpak HD-9XW (~$1k more with pneumatic locks...hmm). Actually, it's ~$1550 more when factoring in the USD$400 gift card on the DL if still available.

Why are you going with the long version? What ceiling height are you working with? If you are 5 ft 10 or taller and have the ceiling height, get the Atlas 8000ext. Hitting my head sent me to the Dr one time with my old lift. It isn’t fun! As for certification, have Pro Lift install and certify your lift. Cert was $280 with tax and I would bet your insurance company would prefer an actual inspection of your lift install in your garage over an industry label. I’m sure they could argue your installation was the problem. I think they sell lifts also. They are the only local installers that I trust. The other ‘popular’ guy did a crappy job on mine and I had to have Pro-Lift redo it.

Backyard Buddy. American Made. My friend has one and it is solid. I have seen those cheapies at half the price. You get what you pay for.

Trouble is too many car owners buy a house with an attached garage when really it should be the other way around.

Ot was the lift recommended originally by DirectLift. Though as I look at my Sketchups the long (and tall) lift might work better. That is, I can still move the lower car further ahead and open the front doors without hitting the front posts. I would imagine with a lift that isn’t as long that wouldn’t be the case?

I have about 12 feet to the first obstruction so should have plenty of height to use the highest lock.I’m 5’11”.

I don’t see any lifts on Prolifts website. Will reach out about installation shatter as well.

12 fit is excellent! If you are using a Jack shaft opener, your garage door will clear the post no problem with either size lift. I went with Atlas after having a Direct Lift, because they offer std width and length with extra height. My experience has been that floor space in front of the lift is valuable to me for storage and easy access - especially if you have other family members in the garage.

At 5 11, you will not be able to walk under the standard height lift even when it is at the highest setting. I’m 6 ft and hit my head. If you have the ceiling hieght, use it! The extra height is great when cleaning the garage floors too.

This is the one that I bought. You can order it or the direct and Pro Lift will pick it up and deliver/instal it for you.

Good thread. Another option is a Made in USA Challenger lift. I love mine.

Default Atlas

I ended up with Atlas lift - the extra long and tall version. The tall feature is great if you have the height - I have roll-up doors.

One thing to note is get a 220v motor. I bought a 120V motor (not sure Atlas even had a 220 option) and it was blowing breakers on the panel. I spent a lot on electrical to fix the problem on top of professional lift install
