Bought a ceramic sub 8 years ago that's worth almost double what I paid. Never will sell it but not many items appreciate in value like these things. Have a 40 year old 1680 that I bought over 10 years ago that's worth 5 times what I paid. Again...pretty rare. My regret...that Daytona I let go about 10 years ago.
There are few items you can buy that either hold or increase their value. Scotty Cameron (esp Circle T) putters. Our cars assuming you bought near the bottom of the dip. It's rare and for me I have always been a huge fan of the rolex brand. I blame my obsession with the show Magnum PI as a child.

This. It has all the hallmarks of a bubble.

I'm sure the guys who paid $500k+ for their 911Rs were thinking the same thing. Same goes for the guys who paid $20k for a Bitcoin.

And that’s the same as watches. Gotcha!!! People have been saying the same about Patek...I’m still waiting for that bubble to pop on $70k+ stainless steel nautilus LMAO

I don't want to generalize but screw it, I will. Anyone I know that collects expensive watches is a d-bag. So that has to be the norm.

This whole scene goes against my basic big ticket buy principle of let someone else take the depreciation hit. I'll stick with my 25 year old TAG.

I just use my phone for time keeping and I still get annoyed everytime the bill comes. I couldn't imagine a watch that was 10k or 50k making me any happier. I do agree with moab tho.

I only own 3 watches that were bought in 2006, 2007 and 2018...all are Rolex and all were purchased for me by my wife to celebrate various life events. All will also be passed along to my Son when I am done with them. To answer your question...today is the 2007 Sub.

My original comment was not directed to you by the way. 3 watches doesn’t make you a collector (at least in my eyes) in the same way as someone who owns several watches, has a watch winder case that holds 12 watches, has a separate viewing area for them and posts photos of new acquisitions on insta. That is the type of dbag I’m referring to.
