Rolex Dealers and Discounts
Gents,
I'm considering getting someone special a Submariner for a milestone birthday.
1. Has anyone here bought a Rolex and have a sales person willing to offer good pricing?
2. I had someone tell me they were offered 13% off cash and 7% off if VISA. Seems weird as VISA only charges the retailer ~2%, no?
3. Think I should buy out of Alberta to save the PST as well?
I know the 116610LN is low on the list of Rolexes but it would be a big purchase for me and any savings are appreciated.
Thanks.

Do you already have a relationship with a shop that sells Rolex? That makes things easier.
If not, I don't think you'll have any problem getting the ceramic sub for list -15%. Just do some calling around, confirm they have one in stock, show up and make the offer in person. Bet it only takes you 1-2 stops to get it at that price.
Good luck and enjoy! The hunt for a new watch is just as satisfying as owning it.

I bought my wife a Cartier a few years ago from amazon and got it delivered to a relative in the LA when we were heading there. Took it to Cartier in Beverly Hills and got it fitted and verified as real. They had the best price, and US $ is cheap now.

I don’t know if this will help you but:
I bought a nice Breitling about 10 years ago from a shop in Montreal. They shipped it to me in Toronto.
But first: I shopped around Toronto for the max discount I could find
then I called the shop in MTL to see if they would match.
They did, and because they shipped it over the border is saved PST on top of thath.

Thanks, Dan. Based on MSRP, with exchange, it's $1,000 cheaper to buy local vs the US.
BioBanker, I was thinking of doing just this. But don't mind buying local if I can get a good deal.
cstyles, I don't have a Rolex contact. That's why I posted here. I would welcome an introduction. I had heard 15% as well.

I have no doubts someone got 15% off a Rolex, I can however say I'm certain it wasn't on a professional model unless one had a relationship with the AD already. 15% off is pretty standard on watches such as the date justs. Afraid I can't help you with discounts but it's worth checking out Damianis in Vaughan.

That's part of the reason. Rolex hasn't increased prices for the past 2 years, but they have raised the cost to the dealer. Also, Rolex is shipping less inventory of the professional line to Canada.
Your other option is to go grey market. Canwatchco.ca is a great resource for that and like you said the LN isn't highly sought after but they do pop up for sale often.

They have most certainly tightened up their ship and even revoked a few AD's in Canada. When I bought my Sub C it was about 6 years ago. I called around to 3 local AD's. No prior relationship at all.
Over the phone the first 2 offered 25% off.
The third offered 30. Showed up with the cash that day and walked out with my new watch. He's no longer an AD.
You should have no problem snagging 15 points with a visit these days. Other option are grey dealers and there are a few in Canada.

I have bought all my watches from, and brought multiple friends to, Raffi Rolex at Yorkdale.. The owner's name is Vahe and he is a sweetheart of a man who has done an amazing job of building his family business that started-off small. Great guy, great product, and he always gives me and my friends a great deal. PM me for more info.
