Petee...I have a DJ from 2006, a Sub from 2007 and a Daytona from 2018. They are all worth more today than what I paid for them new. I wear them all in rotation and plan on giving them to my Son when the time is right. I don't wear or own any other bling, but I really do enjoy my watches.
these are the current listings for the watch I own....

and these are the actual sold prices.....

TAG Heuer takes a hefty beating, and very few appreciate. It's a tough used market, especially on eBay. Try more dedicated forums like Canadian Watch Collector, and watchuseek.

Lots of comparable sales on the various watch forums. Mine are all Rolex models which tend to have better resale than many other brands - especially the sports models.

Made contact with a guy at Raffi based on an intro from a member on here as I’m ready to buy a Submariner.
He wants me to come in and pay upfront, so they can place an order. This seems strange as the steel submariners are nowhere to be found so if when they get the watch in, I bailed, they could sell it in a heartbeat.
I have have no problem providing a deposit but forking over $11k without being handed a watch is a foreign concept.
Thoughts from those that have purchased nice watches before?

We just bought my wife a new Datejust and same deal, paid upfront. We thought it was weird too but they said the new watch would be there in 2 weeks and it was.

ummm...
how many watches do you guys own? Or is the male equivalent to your wife's shoe collection?
What are you planning to do with them when you die? Is there a market for used watches? I don't expect that a modern swiss watch needs a lot of maintenance to keep ticking... It shouldn't rust, and pretty much should last forever.... Even then, I heard that the replacement movements are cheap and still hold time.
I have a tag heuer that I bought in 1994, wore it everyday pretty much since then... still ticks fine, Doesn't loose or gain time, replace the battery every 2-3 yrs myself, sometimes I have to replace the wrist pin... Crystal is perfect, only flaw is the bezel now turns both ways, but I don't scuba so I guess that's ok. Still waterproof to more than I need for swimming in the lake, free diving down to 30ft.

Plan on giving them to our kids. I have my grandfathers 1967 Rolex too, it's a nice keepsake from him, still works perfectly....after a full service and overhaul lol

Weird practice.
Last sub I bought 7 years ago. 116610 sub c. Three dealers in my new area offered 25^ discount over the phone and one offered 30. Walked in and out that day and his displays were full.
Good old days I guess

If Watchfinder still around? I bought my ND Sub from them a few years back. Super easy deal; two texts, 1 bank wire, watch showed up the next day. Couldn't be happier.

Watchfinder is expensive. Better deals to be had on CWC from trusted sellers. There is no Rolex shortage, what has changed is the demand, but thanks to all the hype I just sold my BLNR for $15,500 to fund my grail.

should be able to as DD40 are not in “demand”. But don’t expect the good old days kind of discount. 10% would be likely for that piece.
