A particular corner on last years Targa comes to mind Fordell/Mangahoe stage on a wet day 2. Seemingly a nice flowing hill climb with opening view through the corner so on the gas, Just past the apex the nice camber switches to no camber but my vision had already moved up the road searching for the next corner clue. The rear unloads and slides towards a large bank. No time to think much so wack on the opplock and keep some gas on and catch it but nearly ran out of road. Momentarily I had the flash whereby the rear taps the bank then swings the front in too. Terrible road building skills.
Its the unexpected things that catch out many ppl, and the surprise slows reaction time.

Ha Ha. No British electronic bands were injured in the making of this plate. It was purely by chance of the LTSA...

All this talk of selling cars.....I am going to be listing my e46 m3 next month on trademe. I know we are all Porsche guys at heart but this car makes for eye watering fun on trackdays at a fraction of the cost we are used to. (plus it doesnt look too bad either)

The thing now owes me $43k and this is what I will list it for on trademe but thought I might offer it here first incase (like Macca) any RSGer's wanted it. I would do a deal to move it and throw in a set of new rubber for you guys.

Most know the car but if you want more details then let me know via pm.

Awesome car Nathan. But. Whats next?

P.S. This e46 has Porsche brembo brakes and drilled rotors, the most bad *** stance with competition style wheels and its the best colour (imola red). It can put in 997 challenging times at the track too...

A very good question Macca....

Thinking seriously about attempting to build the ultimate daily driver capable of monthly trackdays with you lot.

E90 M3 (the 4 door)
or (the never put into production) e46 m3 touring

Both could be fast enough on track (for now) while doubling as the drive to work and pick the kids up from daycare vehicle.

dreams are free right! I'll be selling the m3 and my company car to do so, so at least I will get some tax deductability out of it too.

Sounds like a great plan Nat. I think a car you can enjoy and live with which also pulls off the occasional track day is s smart move for a busy professional family guy. Lifestyle enabler. The E90 seems like s good base. Sort out the brakes and suspension and you are basically there!

Macca, you sure are making up for lost time with all your driving. Good on you. A good way to randomly find new exciting drives is to put your destination into Tom Tom and select Winding roads=Maximum. It comes up with stuff you'd not normally consider and doesnt throw in any gravel roads. Sometimes i will do that halfway through a route and get a nice surprise. The Classic Tom Tom app on iphone.

Too right Doug! Yes Im using Tom Tom winding roads. I use minimum for my current route which states 4.29 hrs usually knocked of in 3.3. However if you try maximum it gives you a 6.30hr route which basically takes backroads off the motorway all the way to your Auckland destination. The bit in between doesnt change that much. I dont want to be driving more than 3.3 hrs to get to my destination as its "work travel" not fun travel so I have not yet taken the maximum route...

Gents.

Its with great pleasure I announce my latest business venture. It came together purely by accident a few months ago when shopping for a car for myself. It seems to have taken a life of its own since then!

This is one part of a three pronged business strategy rolling out over the next 12 months. The next yet to be announced business Im very very excited about, but news on that will have to wait...

Motecca is now launched. You can read all about it here www.motecca.com . I've kicked the business off with over $1.5M of stock arriving over the next little while. Ill be specialising in GT cars but also a few choice base models that Ive specced myself.

Of course Ill have a huge range of auto memorabilia in the online shop, most of this will be marketed offshore via ebay, but it may be worth bookmarking if you are looking for something a bit different. I have nearly 700 lines being uploaded here in the next few weeks. Books, models, spare parts for 993/964 and some rather unusual and weird stuff LOL!

Good luck Macca. Alfa already sold? Based on my FB newsfeed I can see you've quickly overcome your dislike of that medium

The NZ OPCs will be none too happy that you are possibly cutting their lunches by driving down the prices of new Caymans and Boxster but competition is healthy in any market. When I rebuild the engine on the Silver car I'll document all costs and offer to write an article for Spiel. Some of the OPC estimates I have seen for even top end rebuilds are exorbitant. While I can understand hours must reflect the possibility that older cars have stuck fasteners etc the parts prices are just outrageous.

Nice Macca, good luck. Good to have someone in the trade that is trusted.
I'll give you a list:
A45 AMG
Poverty spec manual Cayman
late BMW or Audi wagon.
These might be a bit low end for Motecca.
But First....we must wait for normality (and cash) to return to the Maxem household.

Thanks Dave. I'll happily help you out on all fronts when the time is right.

I'm keen to broker some of the more collectable stuff in and off shore too. I've been involved in helping place a few interesting cars recently, it's very time consuming and does not always end with a sale but it's fun work. Anyone for a 458 Speciale Alperta for example?

John I would quite happily headed up the Porsche sales team for a large Auckland dealership should a job been available I think the biggest threat I pose to them is simply being someone who knows the product and is passionate about cars. Also someone who understands owning and using them.

In terms of pricing and it being a free market - well they can reduce their list pricing 20% any time they like and put me out of business. I think it will take PAG acquiring the NZ distributor directly to achieve that personally.

I still rate the main dealers and use them for service and parts. I don't think they have ever taken me serious on the sales side since I imported my GT3 new from Europe. A shame as I was always a customer just not one who could afford to do 30% on a car walking out their door. I even had my name down for a 991.2 GT3 with one of them but haven't heard a word since the launch. Obviously won't now either...

My business helps enhance the brands of these manufacturers and get their product in people's hands more affordably.the next couple of ventures go even further to reflecting their brand values and profiling their wares to their potential target audience...
