You arent wrong Graeme. I have sent the files to an IMSA race team crew member from the RL GT3 board to get a second opinion on the data LOL!

I dont have the luxury of seat time like many other RSG members who go to the track more regularly. Over the last few years I go to the track, drive, take the data back to The Rock, study it, pick up a couple of key errors, visualize the corrections then read my notes before going to the track again. Im actually looking forward to being based 10km from a race track that has "test days" every fortnight so there is less latency in this process...

950kms done in out Touranaki trip. Found some nice "never before driven" roads. Lola lost her power steering so got a real bicep workout for the last 2/3rds of the trip. My endlessly problematic passenger window stopped working today 1/2 way down. John had a suspension knock going on. Chris B some electrical issues. Nothing that slowed or bothered us though. Fantastic trip with lots of big smiles and only a bit of rain (lucky given the forecast). NZ North Island countryside is looking so lush at the moment. (I just tried to upload and share 3 photos off my phone and got two error messages. Back to Facebook. Bye)

I got a workout the whole way! A bit like dancing with a gorilla. The SC chuntered along OK - No problems except more rattles. Liked my new 2K cup spec Dunlops, great in the wet and dry.

Well done guys! So is the steering weight after power steering failure much heavier than a non assisted set up? and if so why is that?

Yes, and good on all you roadtrippers for running some metal sections too on the way around. Glad those Direzza ZIIs are doing the job for you Dave.

Back when I had my old 928, it would occasionally have it's powersteering take random breaks. Always a bit of a wake up call, particularly when it takes off while entering a roundabout. I suppose manufacturers often take advantage of the power-assistance to run a smaller steering wheel and a quicker lock-to-lock ratio, so when the system's down the driver has less underlying mechanical leverage over the front wheels? PLus maybe the dead power-assisted steering is heavier than a simple non-assisted version because instead of the assistance mechanism helping the steering wheel turn, the steering wheel is suddenly having to help the assitance mechanism turn/flow?

Thought they were going to lose their minds for a second and give the NSX the nod!

I've admired the GTi Clubsport since it launched, an M4GTS would put a grin on my face too.

Collected the SC from Aero today, driving a manual air cooled car to the shore in traffic is the pits. Need a trailer.
