£120,000 is now the entry level for a RHD Turbo 3.6 in the UK.

In the last week I have seen 3 in Auckland, including my own. Why a NZer didn't jump on Clint's is beyond me. That car is now lost to the UK. General rule is deduct a third from the UK price to get the export price ex NZ.

I was telling Dave this on Saturday so it's no secret. I paid $107,000 in September 2001. I spent another $10,000 on it up front. Some of it stupid e.g. who cares if it has a Porsche Air Pump?

It has been stored for 8 years and left out in the rain no more than 10 days in the time I've had it. Usually when visiting in laws in Taranaki.

Personally I don't think it would measure up to $150,000 without a full respray. It's the only way to get all panels absolutely matching. However I don't care. It's beautiful to me as is and is set up to drive with a relative lack of care. Do the respray and you'd never drive it again.

It needs a road trip now. Maybe NITT?

Excellent buy John, though your figures above suggest it has outpaced inflation rather than being a retirement fund starter (don't we all wish we'd bought AAPL - Apple then), so the good news for Paul is that it is actually just as driveable now as it was back in 2001 - though that may yet change. If you're thinking of giving it a respray and maybe a new windscreen anyway, then the NITT sounds just the go, provided you can keep clear of the red mist!

Walter I was getting what hair I have left cut and so i wasn't expecting much conversation from the hairdresser. Anyway when I said I was off to the track she spent 20 minutes telling me about her husbands car obsession. Turns out he restored his favourite car and could never bear to drive it again because it was perfect. Dave had a similar car problem.

I'm not going to fall in that trap. The car drives beautifully, is original (except for paint) is all straight and I know where it's been. There's no reason it can't do another 50,000 km with out problems and I intend to do some of those.

It will be me who sells it to you. I'll only need it for about 9 months.

Its fair to say, car wise its been a sound investment. It hasn't lost money and even after insurance and annual service, WOF and Rego has probably wiped its ass with current realistic residuals. So you haven't lost a penny and have had many 10s of 000s of KM of fun with it over 13 years. You cant ask for more than that!

FYI: AAPL has gone up 30% (plus 2.2% annual dividends) since I recommended it 18 months or so ago on page 400 or something of this thread. In 2001 AAPL traded at $20 and today US$1318 equivalent (due to 2 for 1 split Feb 2005 and 7 for 1 in June 2014).
