First clean finished. Doug and Dave, you're welcome to take it around the bays if you want to see what a Turbo 3.6 feels like with new underpinnings. It needs the battery charged. I've left it on the road side to give room to clean Herman and the garage. Can't wait to get the shark fins back on and complete the minor cosmetic lift for her 21st birthday.

Regarding BB. The previous owner just rang me to say that he forgot to tell us that he disconnected the cooling fan. The new radiator makes the car run too cold on the street so he disconnected it. He will show you how to reconnect it if you ring him prior to showing up on 19/7. Number is 021 156 2400. He's also happy to give us the old engine at the same time. Maybe put it in the boot!

Chris 3rd and Pete 5th, according to Chris. You cans also check out mylaps http://www.mylaps.com/en/events/1043089
I'd like to say tire strategy was the difference (our 221s vs Chris's 214s) and that was probably part of it but Chris definitely has the sharper machine and after the DNF last time out both he and Matt drove awesome making the most of it. Happy faces all round when we all finished in one piece. Last round at HD on the 25th and no quarter will be given on home track ;) Check out the video below - just after Steve comes down the front straight... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater Was a pretty nasty one - V8 Supertourer just punted the rear end of the Honda and he had no chance - straight into the tyres. Driver OK but looked very slow getting out of the car, probably pretty sore. Overall though it was an awesome weekend - Dan/Caleb were stars again looking after the cars. Very cool to have Chris M and Matt B helping out as well - return visit to Indian Affair on Fri and craft beer & pizza after the race on Sat. Plenty of discussion about the shenanigans @ HD and Dave's sleeper form in the beater!! We're all (im)patiently waiting for a turn. John - agreed that the costs of 944 racing aren't cheap - but in terms of choices I highly recommend the endurance events for sheer seat time and being amongst it. The 944s are mid pack so getting passed and making passes - the full experience. Because of the format there's an opportunity for likeminded people to share costs given it takes 2 drivers. |
Pete. Great stuff. I feel for the Honda guy. Hope he was ok. You are right the format is excellent value/experience - one event is equivalent to three full RSG track days and I guess its a great way to really get into a groove with a particular track and become very familiar with most aspects of it.
Cant wait for the showdown on the Friday 25TH July! Ill come and watch as Im in town - is that correct? |

Well done Pete, Chris, Yoda and Matt.
What is the 26th July - is this another enduro? |
Feel for the Honda Driver. While you put on your big boy pants on the tracks it isn't always fair to pay your own costs. http://vimeo.com/m/99367407

Interesting that I think there were even a couple of 2k cup cars in the field that finished the 3 hour - so BB should make an appearance. |

BB is at a development plateau right now, as times have been set :). She would need a cage to do other events, which is $1,000. I'm not sure what the long term future is for BB. After say 3 sessions each she will be well used and some may tire of the concept and maintenance. If she's still going I would think there might be merit in developing her. Better tyres and suspension would make her faster. A cage would widen her use for training and racing. Even if we completely make her undriveable there are maybe $1,000 in parts that could be transferred to a new BB. Anyway, look forward to seeing what times are set on 19/7. The previous owner was very surprised that Dave had gone 1.28.50 in his second session |

Thanks for the offer John. I saw it parked up the road looking good today but sadly had to watch from the window. Went out for dinner last night and something wasn't right, needless to say I have had to stay in close proximity to a bowl today......the upside is losing some ballast for the next run in BB.

Certainly had a couple of 2k cup cars finish at Pukekohe. Looks like at least one went on to Taupo.

TMI. I think you have a wait until the next BB session. There are four co-owners aside from you and Doug on 19/7 and let's face it they aren't going to beat you in one session.
If it is part of the RSG sessions or is it entered in the main all-comers group? Some of you have had two cars along under one (driver) entry before so it must be possible to get an extra sticker for the screen at no extra entry cost for the car. Downside of running with the RSG group is you miss a session driving your Porsche. |

Graeme you are a smarter man than us I suspect! The cost of a brand new box for a Fraser is probably less than the rebuild of a G50. I think I know the answer but have you ever used your Porsches for road/track work or have they been road cars only? I suspect your answer here is partly why you have a successful and perpetual Motorsport calendar!!! __________________ |
