Back in the day. As stated I don't know the proper adjustment for inflation.
By the way, the car was a McLaren m8d, two years previous Denny Hulme won the series in that car so it wasn't an also ran.
Even Mclaren didn't use transporters- the cars were transported to the race on one ton ramp back trucks.
2 ramp back trucks and the spares in a 24 foot box truck they they rented for the season.
