the rest of Kurt's points were correct! so much hype over N2. folks spending 10bucks per tire to fill them with N2, with the thought that the car will get better gas mileage and be safer! so much hype!!

anyway, I use my mixture of NOS and air and always seem to come into the pits at 30psi race pushed tire temp. don't know how much better you can get than that. maybe sometimes im a pound or two off, but that could be track conditions or my cool down lap style. however that can happen with N2 in the tire too.
I was referring to the second paragraph, guess I should be more careful with my quotes! Dry air (dew point <-40 degrees) and tank nitrogen are interchangeable.

NOS is an interesting solution - no judgement here.

Cheers,
Mike

This thread rocks! I work in the welding supply industry so it's a win/win for us either way. We sell N2O AND Nitrogen.... But we won't put ANYTHING in your scuba tank other thank a breathing gas.

Thanks! yes, and I have proposed that NOS is interchangeable as well.
And, anyone on the thread that is not a troll, would think its interesting as well. right, wrong, or indifferent. Why? because as racers we are always looking at better , more cost effective or efficient solutions for the sport.
However, I do feel kind of bad about the environmental impacts vs Co2.

what does it cost for the NOS vs Nitrogen? I know that the common NOS fill is 10lbs in a very small bottle, but how do you measure Nitrogen fil? by pressure only. are the bottles sized by CF? height?

I know 40 bucks is a lot for NOS, but its 10lbs and I think it might be equivalent to a lot more N2. even If N2 was half,, when I drive the race car to the track, I only have room for the NOS bottle (size of a 10lb halon bottle for reference) so, its a bargain for me, based on room in my car. even taking the trailer, its nice to have something that is so compact do so much.
