It's an awesome show.

You have to be in the industry to get in though.

4th line.

I've been to the show a couple times. I had to be affiliated with a shop or professional race team to get in.

Got it - You must be an authorized member of a racing industry company to attend.

Most of us here are "affiliated" with a shop... $$$$

Yet another reason to have a good, personal relationship with your local indy shop

Does anyone know what it costs to get in? I'm pretty close to Indy and would like to go.

IIRC it's free for attendees.

walkup, show a membership card with scca and get it. that's how it has been in the past.

Or if you are concerned, print a few 'business' cards and use those when you get to the same day registration.

Also if you learn only one thing from attending, it should be that road racing is almost an afterthought compared to the rest of the motorsports world.

yep, I went last year and 90%+ of the booths were oval/dirt oval/drag oriented.

worth going once if you can get in (good tip on the SCCA card; it's free for attendees), your shop/garage will never look complete again

It is a great place to go if you are doing a build out on a car though. Every seat from every mfr is there. Don't forget to stop by the guys like Butler and ISP, not just the usual road racing names.

Every helmet company is there usually, sometimes ones you don't see stateside often. Nice if you're looking for a new one.

The only kicker with Indy is weather issues that time of year. In the past there were weeks where you were delayed significantly on one end of the trip.

This year will be the 23 year that I've attended the PRI show. Virtually every year I've found new products. Some years 5 or more new products/sources. I even put on a seminar for PRI. If you're into cars then go at least once. The same for the SEMA show in Vegas. Only bad thing about PRI, we're back in Indy in the middle of Dec. I miss Orlando already.

I'm headed there for the first time. I'm staying at a hotel near the airport. Should I rent a car? Take a taxi instead?

This will be my third year. Lots of folks from "Joe's Race Team" somehow show up, so I think it is easy to get credentials. First year I was pretty blown away. We gave an oils seminar last year. Orlando didn't work out too well - PRI bought out the last couple of years of the contract to get it back to Indy. I've heard that Indy is much better. If anyone goes, I'll be in booth 2445, behind the Haulmark trailers display.
