A Time to Paint
#227
OK, word is that the paint shop is done. I had new wing uprights fabricated to comply with a rule change. Now I do the detail work and reassemble it. And that hood goes away.

Glad to see it's coming along nicely Frank. When does your season start in the NE?
Here is Socal I've already run a race weekend and have another one this upcoming weekend with a plain white car with magnetic numbers. My car was painted, but it has to cure for a month before I can stick vinyl on it hence the reluctancy to post pics until the final product is done. I just got the proofs from the vinyl shop and it looks really good on simulated computer pics!! I'll post in about 10 days!

You're supposed to wait to apply graphics? We'll see about that.
I'm hoping to make the first race for us, at Lime Rock in April.
But, it will be without any prior testing, so just to shake it down, which is OK because I often skip that event altogether anyway.
I ordered my graphics today.

if its a one stage point (no clear coat) yes, you typically wait about a month for the paint to fully cure otherwise if you apply the graphics and needs to move them before they set it takes the paint right off.

Frank, it looks good, but get on it already! Your thread inspired me to start down this road, and the car is done and was on the racetrack a week ago!
The trip down South is alway amusing - passed on the the "Drive Thur"

It does look great, I took it from a Nissan race car I saw in Grassroots. Combined with some matte gunmetal panels, and some red highlights, my car is looking "Intimidating", according to my kids.
