Yup, my buddy Dan painted my car in the middle of January last year in his 2 car unheated garage. Used a propane heater and a kerosene torpedo heater - one of them kept getting clogged up with the fumes. It was a struggle to keep it warm enough but he did it...and it turned out really well IMHO!

...then I hit a wall at RA last year and he is now doing the front end again

That's it. I bailed. Trailered the car on Saturday to AJ Hartman, he'll finish the prep and paint it. Didn't have much to say about the prep I'd done, either! I went home and enjoyed the rest of the weekend, what a relief!

I hope you had your rains on when you loaded it on the trailer. R-6 would make a very interested loading process.

I was looking forward to seeing your plastic peely painted car Now I have to find some other way to bust your ba_ls

Oh, well, a day late. AJ has a few things to do for me so it's just as well that he has the car.
And there will still be plenty of plasti-dipped panels to play with, so I'm sure you'll find something to bust me on, Stevie. Like the new rear bumper, you'll have plenty of time to evaluate that.

Very funny! What is that thing, some kind of trailer, or a photoshop deal? Sure is fugly.
I could have continued to prep my car's body and get it a lot better, but with three kids at home I decided that's not how I wanted to spend my time. Not to mention all the dust and dirt in the garage it causes. If it was a little warmer at least I could do it outside, but I've got enough to do and now I'm relieved to hand it off, AJ does great work at reasonable rates, so the hell with it.
And by the way, that's not AJ's shop, Stevie. Who do you think you're dealing with here, an amateur?

Some pre-painted pics of my car.. and then some post paint, but pre-graphics. Still a work in progress. Paint needs to cure for about a month before vinyl can be added.

Damn, that front windscreen is almost as steep as a 911! Must be hell on fuel bills.

Nice new paint Pete!

As predicted, much of the work I had done was for naught and had to be redone. Mainly the crappy primer I had applied had to be sanded off, and then lots of rough edges and deep scratches still removed. I'm so glad this car is in professional hands now. Primer applied and ready to paint!
