SP996 goes to impound
In one more step in the move towards becoming a force in PCA racing, the entire SP996 field was called to impound this weekend. Great to see the scruts paying attention to our growing field. Seven cars this weekend, and I expect 10 by the TWS race in March.
We had a great time racing each other this weekend. Bryan Bell walked away from the field. Were still trying to figure out where he hides the nitrous.
I cooked up a SP996 hard charger award to the driver who had the highest total cumulative overall race position improvement over the weekend. Congrats to Michael Williams for winning a nice bottle of 1792. Hope some more of you decide to join us. These cars a re a blast to drive!

Spec Classes are suppose to be EXACTLY as the Spec specifies, if it doesn't say you can do it then you can't. I see a few things in the pictures that are not allowed/written in the rules, you guys should get together and get PCA to either Spec them into the rules are do not allow it and enforce the rules even if you must do it too each other by policing within the group. Allowing rules creep is never good for a "Spec" class.
Just my opinion.

Venting rear quarter glass is a pretty obvious violation of rule "6.A.8) Rear window and rear quarter windows must be stock in appearance with no venting,"
Gurney flaps added to rear wings ? Nothing in the rules about that one ....yet a few cars have/do have them.
See Rule 6.A.12) Allows Getty wing and deck lid assembly but nothing there about the optional scoop.
Now please don't take me as a butt head for this, but rules are rules. I'm personally for the class adding those things to the rules I have pointed out above, as I DO see the gain that each one clearly offers, and the cost is quite minimal on all of the items.
But, do it correctly and add it to the rules. Otherwise it won't be long before someone shows up with a exhaust driven muffler,(mufflers are open correct ?), to their car and blows away the field of Spec 996's !
