I'm in.
Had a good weekend at Barber so I THINK the cars all set...

Looking forward to it. RA is one of my favorite tracks.

Come on everyone, we need more racers!
Last I heard, they are sticking with 3 race groups, 1 DE group. So get signed up!!

That's good news. Don't want to sound like a jerk, but I remember when club races were club races and DEs were DEs. Not sure why it changed but it would be nice if club races had a little extra time on the schedule, and less cars on track, especially Sebring which IMHO is not worth going to anymore in the fastest group due to lack of any clear track time.

DE's have been added to many club races to help with the finances... when there's low racer attendance, the DE group can add some much needed registration money to help cover the costs.

Bob what is the cars per mile formula they use? I see there are 130 racers signed up as of today and I sure hope that means 3 groups.

That, I don't know... I seem to remember about 140-150 or so last year and 3 groups, so maybe something like 50 +/- per group?

A little birdie told me that 3 groups are guaranteed.

FWIW, for DE's they allow 40 in solo groups and 25 in instructed groups. I don't know how to answer your question, but there is a benchmark.

The increase in the cost of track rental at almost all tracks in the last ten years has been staggering. There was a time in the 90's when many club races made money. The problem was track managers looked out their windows and saw tons of new cup cars, transporters, etc and decided that PCA CRs were profit centers for the track. That has driven many regions to add DE groups that weren't there previously.
My advice is if you don't like the crowds at the big races there are a number of smaller friendly races at less famous tracks that are still fun.

I've driven RA a couple of times with around 65 cars in a group. It is ugly. Not worth the time.
That many cars in a mixed class race group would create massive speed differentials. 35-40 is good. 45 is pushing the limit.

Come on guys. G and SPB are really sad.
