Not entirely true. You are allowed to continue in the appropriate class at the discretion of the Steward.

I wonder why PCA won't publish a list of those caught and the infraction. I don't see being a little light as cheating, but having illegal stuff done to the internals of the engines in stock class is blatant and the sanctions should be on the harsh side.

mobile dyno like nasa uses would cut down on some of the most egregious/obvious stuff i have seen. i know of several people that got tired of this and now race other series, such as WRL.

I have been club racing for almost two years and i have seen only small cases of "cheating" in the paddock.
Sometimes willingly and sometimes unwillingly.
Willingly, it is folks looking for a grey area "edge" or engineering something to be slightly better. "Speed secrets." The officals however do not always agree that it is a grey area.
Unwillingly is the folks that have a car that wasnt built/dosnt exactly conform to the "class spec" and they were not aware due to lack of knowledge or being a new owner to the car.

Given the nature of Club Racing i do not really care either way as it is for fun and not for fame and fortune.

cheating in racing has been happening since the chariot days!! For the life of me though, I can't understand it in amateur club racing... If you've raced the spec classes for years, you know who's faster on the straights vs. cornering and braking and know who's cheating or at least, getting around the current rules.

Will on site dyno testing ever make it's way into PCA Club racing?

In grade school, I built and ran a Pinewood Derby, little cars, less than a foot long. Even there - there was talk about "that kid" who used (illegal) graphite on his wheels.....

someone once told me the joke, two racers sitting around the paddock pissed because they got just trounced by a fellow competitor. "that dude is a cheater, absolutely, i just know he cheated, that motor has to be a cheater, had to have cheated. no way he's that fast. he's a cheater and i just know it".
the buddy says "wow, strong words, how in the world can you know that he cheated?"
the pissed guy "because, well, i have im a cheater mother f'er, i have a cheater motor and there is no way that guy beats me without his own cheater motor"

just saying....some guys are fast. and some are especially fast.

engines, transmissions, gearing, aero trips, riblets, etc. etc. etc.
its there. it happens. people want to win at all costs no matter if the prizes ia 6 buck trophy no cash.

I love the SCCA fastrack section in their magazine which lists all protests and outcomes.
I wish PCA would do that.

hahaha, my dad just told me a story about just such a pinewood derby car (about 12" long) that had tunnels on the bottom side of the car for better aero... it's at ALL LEVELS
