Apart from extra weight, what's the downside of the Nascar type door bars.

Have you considered adding supports to the front firewall as well as a well-placed "knee-capper" that is not actually a knee-capper?

Looking good Dan, I'll have to pop up to Nyack to see it when it's done.

This has been debated extensively on this board. "RedlineMan" has explained it very well before.

While not universally true, many NASCAR-type door bars are poorly designed. The "pyramid X" design (exactly like DanR's new cage) is tough to argue against and obviously what factory Porsche Cup cars still come equipped with... To me, that says it all.

Don't Cup cars come with steel doors with internal crash protection?

If you are building a race car with FRP doors, you want some type of NASCAR door bar system.

The pictures do not show the finished cage. I collected the car today and it has the knee bar etc as well as lots of other gussets etc

Dan, Wait tilll you see it in person, it is a thing of beauty with some amazing detail. If possible it is a step up from my last cage!!!!!! I can not reccomend his work enough (I heard he also had some good input )

MX-5 cup car kit cages have an X bar along with NASCAR type cage emcompassing the X bar... best of both worlds?

996 & 997 cups had carbon doors with the X style door bracing. Nascar bars are not necessarily the best option.
