Default PCA race format?

There has been some debate about this lately. What does everyone prefer? Is it track specific?

A) One sprint, one enduro.
B) Two sprints, one enduro.
C) Three sprints, one enduro.
D) Four sprints, no enduro.

What about longer sprints and/or shorter "enduros"? 40 minute sprints? 60 minute enduros?

What is the ideal combination? People say they like enduros but then fewer people sign up for them, and even fewer people actually race in them.

3-30 min sprints 1-60 min enduro

edit: coming from experienced front running stk class driver, have perceived this is the opinion of many through talking to fellow racers

What about the 3 enduro, no sprints option?

Personally I like the one sprint & one enduro format. The multiple sprint races is just too JV in my (if you didn't win you get another chance). Make each race count.

If the format was one race per day max, I think that would be ok (so a race on Fri, Sat & Sun could lead to 3).

Agree with Colin. Keeps the number of races up, but also doesn't dilute any of the races. As a logistical matter, is that possible with the mandatory fun races for the rookies?

Every race weekend should schedule an enduro of at least 1 1/2 hours. A large percentage of racers love enduros. The smaller group that doesn't like them do not have to pay for them or run them.

Races count? Count for what? There is no prize money or "championship". Club racing is for fun !!!!! We attend as many races as schedules and budgets allow. Seems to me the more races available per event the more fun. I vote for 3 sprints and one 90 min enduro. Don't have the tires or inclination to do them all? Cherry pick what suits you the best. Worried that someone will do them all and get more "Rennpoints" than you? Go SCCA racing

Two sprints versus three? I'll always vote for more sprints, not fewer. Maybe my memory is failing me, but every time that PCA's race organizers had us racers vote whether we wanted two sprints or three sprints, the vast majority voted for three sprints. I don't believe the enduro was ever in danger of being axed, at least not for that particular race weekend, since so many people had signed up for it and were expecting to run it.

I've always liked the enduros because they're almost like hour and a half sprints and because they involve well-orchestrated pit strategies.

Mark,

I don't doubt that the past votes have overwhelmingly favored 3 sprints vs 2. However, those votes may have taken place before alot of us ran 3 sprint weekends on multiple occasions. With the 3 sprint weekend, qualifying is not what it used to be. Frankly, I don't care that much either way, as long as it's at least 2 sprints and an enduro.

regional races: 2 sprints and 1 90 min enduro or 3 to 4 sprints
WG, TRAC, Sebring: real qualifying, 1 or 2 sprints, 1 enduro of 2+ hours

I'm just surprised you didn't say one 4 hour enduro Saturday and a 6 hour on Sunday!

Seriously, the longer enduros would be a blast.

as usual i agree with Kevin. Dilution??? for what?? racing is for fun, the more the merrier, better bang for your buck for the weekend. if i wanted to do 2 races for a weekend and sit around all day i would go do NASA events. its mind boggling that people complain that there are TOO many races in a weekend.
