In your so humble of opinions, why hasn't Alonso performed better than he has? Please don't compare him to Massa, because Massa is lucky to be in a car after the head trama he received.

It was generally accepted at the beginning of the season that he and Ferrari would dominate, given their resources and his #1 driver status within the team and his unsurpassed ability to develop a car.

RBR and McLaren's development pace has embarrassed Ferrari (re: Ferrari's failed attempt at an F-duct, first automatic then driver operated).

You would expect much better results from a highly paid 2X WDC driving "the best car I've ever had".

So, again, what happened?
Wow, the season went by that quickly huh ... who won? ahhh the amigos, turning up the BS to a new high .....

Alonso and Ferrari are fine , Kubicka is enjoying Alonso development , Alonso....Kimi's... accck , nothing input! He is making a big difference, ask Monty, he's happy. The FIA, FU real big last week and Hamilkton's break was nothing more than the vig for this weeks British GP , Alonso was on his way to a 2nd place finish before webbo decided to go for his pilots license .......

RB could have won this with Webber , going with Vettel eliminates them IMO and talking about a waste of time and money ! New car , full team support , teammate in a headlock, Big paycheck, yes , what a waste, Brawn will announce his retirement shortly !

1 Lewis Hamilton ... British .... McLaren-Mercedes ... 127

5 Fernando Alonso .... Spanish .... Ferrari .... 98

I recall a saying from my childhood...

"If bullsh!t was bologna, you could feed the German army"

I knew if I lived long enough, I'd eventually find the opportunity to apply it.

Why?
Ferrari is lacking the strong team team manager like Ross Brown. Stefan is a nice guy, but there have been quite a few blunders in his mangement. The car has not developed at the same pace as it's competition. This is due to lack of proper management more than anything. If this was 3-4 yrs ago, when there was no testing ban, then Ferrari would have been much more competitive right now. They would have run their car day and night, until they got it right.
The changes that took place at Ferrari were huge. They didn't show up initially because as we all know, these cars are built almost a yr in advance. Kimi benefitted from a car that had that great Ferrari management with Brawn, Todt and possibly the best designer in Rory Byrne. With all those people gone, there has to be some setback. This is what we are seeing. They are finally begining to find their way around again and it might take another yr or two.
Regards.

Nice to know that Luca is fine with zero chance of winning the Constructor's title and an outside shot at the WDC.

Or perhaps he's just happy with Santander's money.

And in spite of all this, and assuming that Alonso was fully aware of the situation, he still coveted becoming a part of the TEAM ?

BTW, Rory Byrne is no Adrian Newey, at least IMHO.

Thanks for the laugh Wayne. You can always tell when Wayne has been smoking Jamaca's finest vs. when he's hitting the bottle. When he smokes he spins, when he's drunk, he's just bitter and angry.

Actually, I beg to differ but we all have our opinions. Rory Bryne is my eyes was a better designer than Adrian Newey. Its a shame that Adrian has no competition now.

Perhaps as viewed as an all around designer, Rory might have a slight edge over Adrian, but when it comes to aero, Newey has always been in a class of his own.

This has been shown in recent years as aero has become the real battle ground for the teams, no matter what the FIA does to remove downforce (wings, spoilers, engines) to slow the cars down, the aero folks keep coming up with new designs to keep the cars running fast.

Newey is also the type of individual who has a keen sense of exactly where the breaking point will be, hence he designs cars that can be fragile to begin with, but always fast. This year's RBR is perhaps the most 'watched' car in terms of development this season. It was fast right out of the box and looks to stay that way.
However, the team at McLaren can never be counted out, as they will inevitably improve the car with each week.

That having been said, again, what is the story with Ferrari and their #1 driver?

Horner: No favouritism in chassis choice

By Jonathan Noble Thursday, July 8th 2010, 17:38 GMT

Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner has dismissed suggestions that the team's decision to give Mark Webber a chassis recently rejected by Sebastian Vettel is a sign of favouritism within the Milton Keynes outfit.

Webber's huge accident in Valencia has forced a chassis shuffle for this weekend's British Grand Prix - with Webber taking chassis number 3 for Silverstone. This is the same one that Vettel ditched after the team discovered problems with it after Monaco.

Ohhh bwoy ......

Amazing the mentality of those who call themselves F1 race fans, yet promote this kind of farce, by supporting the sport's newest super Prat, Vettel ......

Maybe Webbo might get back his old chassis..............

Not a good sign for Webber. Even worse for Vettel if Webber goes out and beats him with a chassis Vettel thought was damaged....
