That Corvette caused a crash with me in my Acura in the race on Sunday. I passed him on the inside of that same turn where he went off and he didn't give me room, squeezed me at the apex for no reason. His bumper impacted my door -- obviously I had the right to the line. He was Super Unlimited and I was running PTD with 140 hp!!! It was raining though.
Wiped out my door, $500 to fix at Maaco.

BTW, in one local PCA Region there is a tech inspection every morning at every track that they attend (9-10/year). If you are not in compliance with the PCA and track regs, you fix it or don't run. No tickets though.

Bob, no disrespect intended, but in those cases, the cops are there off duty, hired by the venue or sanctioning body for security. Generally, the only exceptions are when there is a specific threat or when there are high profile individuals in the stands.

Guys, why belabor the "ticket" thing? We have been informed that no tickets were issued. I am still against the whole "replace perfectly good harnesses every two years thing" mind you. A pure money grab in my book.

Except for the incorrect rumor of "tickets" this thread, there is no difference. You either fix the problem or you don't run. Same thing at LRP. No tickets have been issued at NJMP. threat I have heard (via the internet no less) is supposed to have come from some guy who is part of NASA. No tickets, you just don't run.

I think what we outside of the NJ area are surprised about is that state troopers are allowed to be on private property issuing tickets for these sorts of things. As has been written in this thread, it is allowed by state law, but that still doesn't make it right. If those in NJ allow this to continue for the "priviledge" of paying money to drive that track, that's on you. But as an American, I find it offensive. Careful what you allow on private property. Give them an inch and they take a foot.

Because it is always fun to poke fun of New Jersey and there is always addition fuel

Hey, at least NJ doesn't have "quiet time" and "no beer on Sunday" laws.
Funny, me from PA defending NJ.

We've established that there were no tickets written, yet. But the threat is there. If I'm at Laguna, I don't have the threat of a cop fining me for belts, noise, paddock speed etc. INTRUSIVE GOV'T and let's be clear....LS that is a State Park.

The battle plans are always most easily defined, and the outcomes most easily critiqued, by the uninvolved noncombatants.

I can understand someone threatening this, in a driver meeting, to slow cars down in the pit/paddoc, and ensure complance.
But did it actually happen?
FWIW, at Daytona Raceway the blue shirt security are sworn deputies with arrest powers...
They sure don't check cars at tech... But you bet your *** they'll eject you, or trow your *** in jail if you decide to bed brakes in the infield paddoc, and they catch you.
Plenty of tracks have LEO's, but none I've see are enforcing tech rules.
So, did it happen? and to Whom?

The cop was there at the drivers meeting with a print-out copy of the law, and at the meeting and pointing the the section he thought was relevant. Joe the NASA NE director announced that the cop found 3 cars that had out of date belts. That is factual -- if they actually gave out tickets who knows. Joe also said the cop was giving out tickets but it turns out that was stretching the truth.
The bottom line is the law is there it's just being selectively enforced.
On a good note, I guess if anyone sues NASA, PCA, the track, whatever, they can point to the cop and say it was his responsibilty to keep the event safe.
