Brawn & Button need to show that they have rediscovered what got them into the lead. So for this race I voted for Webber.

I'd say it's Vettel's race to lose.

FA will qualify high, but she will be running on fumes.......

So a 4 stop strategy may not work well?

Turn 25 at Valencia, aka last turn before the pit straight, is the pit in same as the racing line?
Or do I lack the Tilke insight in racetrack appreciation in understanding the subtety between someone going slightly slow to pit in vs. someone who's just slow and is on the racing line.

(spoiler. Practise 2)

Just sorta looked like Heidfeld was going slow at the corner and Alonso may have thought he was going to pit. Or Alonso could have totally banzaied the corner completely wrong.

+1, no Schumi has really put a damper on the weekend, especially with Badoer going so slowly. It was like a big tease really.

Happy to see the McLarens back at the front though.

Button is head to head with Vettel, he may have to earn that championship somewhat after all.

Default Hamilton Lightest of all. Badoer and Trulli have enough fuel to drive back to Italy

Pole winner Hamilton lightest car on grid
22 August 2009 / Results / Photos

For the second race in succession, the driver on pole position will be carrying the least amount fuel into the race this weekend as Lewis Hamilton lines up alongside team-mate Heikki Kovalainen. Jarno Trulli's lowly grid position has resulted in the Toyota fuelling the Italian for the longest first stint of the European Grand Prix.

- Lightest car: Lewis Hamilton / McLaren - 1st - 653.0kg
- Heaviest car: Jarno Trulli / Toyota - 18th - 707.3kg

Post-qualifying car weights:

1 - Lewis Hamilton / McLaren = 653.0kg *
2 - Heikki Kovalainen / McLaren = 655.0kg
3 - Rubens Barrichello / Brawn = 662.5kg
4 - Sebastian Vettel / Red Bull = 654.0kg *
5 - Jenson Button / Brawn = 661.5kg *
6 - Kimi Räikkönen / Ferrari = 661.5kg *
7 - Nico Rosberg / Williams = 665.0kg *
8 - Fernando Alonso / Renault = 656.5kg *
9 - Mark Webber / Red Bull = 664.5kg
10 - Robert Kubica / BMW = 657.5kg *
11 - Nick Heidfeld / BMW = 677.0kg
12 - Adrian Sutil / Force India = 672.5kg *
13 - Timo Glock / Toyota = 694.7kg *
14 - Romain Grosjean / Renault = 677.7kg
15 - Sébastien Buemi / Toro Rosso = 688.5kg
16 - Giancarlo Fisichella / Force India = 692.5kg
17 - Kazuki Nakajima / Williams = 702.0kg
18 - Jarno Trulli / Toyota = 707.3kg
19 - Jaime Alguersuari / Toro Rosso = 678.5kg *
20 - Luca Badoer / Ferrari = 690.5kg

* Lightest of the team's two cars (first to pit under normal circumstances)

Note: Race entrants are displayed in provisional grid order

Luca is running heavy.
On British TV interview, Luca said his and the team's goal was for him to finish the race.
May he not be the Milka Duno of the F1 world.

He's only heavy because they could decided his race weight AFTER Q1. So they do what most last place guys do and stuck a bunch of fuel in the car.

Finishing the race is no excuse for that qualifying effort when first timer rookie Buemi, second timer Alguesari, and first timer Grosean all beat him in equal or lesser cars, by SEVERAL seconds. The last two with no testing just like him.

I won't swing the gavel on him yet as maybe he can turn a respectable race lap, but he won't be in that seat long driving like that. I'd bet he's replaced within 2 more races if he back-of-pack's it again.

TV commentators were scratching their head trying to figure out when was the last time Ferrari wasn't in some mechanical stress and qualified the car for ye olde 'Lanterne Rouge.'

At least he showed that he can look in the rearview mirrors very well and had lots of moving off racing line practise.
